Pelican BioThermal to Exhibit CoolPall Flex, Discuss On Demand Network at Cold Chain Global Forum

Leader in temperature-controlled packaging to display its most modular, versatile shipper

Pelican BioThermal to Exhibit CoolPall Flex, Discuss On Demand Network at Cold Chain Global Forum

PHILADELPHIA - September 24, 2018 - Pelican BioThermal, the global name in temperature controlled packaging, is exhibiting the newest addition to its range of bulk shippers at booth #315 the 16th Annual Cold Chain Global Forum at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia.

The CoolPall Flex system is an extension of Pelican BioThermal's successful Credo, Chronos and CoolPall lines, and provides excellent payload efficiency on aircraft with more constrained cargo spaces. Available in three heights, and with a capacity range of 140L - 767L, CoolPall Flex is ideal for the global transportation of payloads for pharmaceutical and life sciences applications.

"The CoolPall Flex is one of the most configurable, single-use temperature-controlled shippers in the life sciences market," says Kevin Lawler, vice president of worldwide sales at Pelican BioThermal. "The CoolPall Flex system is based on modular components and can be assembled in less than two minutes, allowing pharmaceutical manufacturers to focus on developing life-saving medications, rather than complicated logistics systems."

Executives from Pelican BioThermal will also be in attendance to discuss the quickly growing Credo on Demand network. The network is a globally available, cost-effective rental program for its Credo Cargo line of temperature-controlled shippers.

"Pharmaceutical manufacturers are in the business of developing medications that improve and sustain the quality of life, not developing logistical systems," says Dominic Hyde, vice president of Credo on Demand. "By early 2019, we plan to have more than 100 network stations and drop points throughout the world. This gives manufacturers the flexibility to ship anywhere in the world - on short notice - without the burden of managing reverse logistics."

Australian supermarket chain rolls out AI-powered grocery carts

Grocery shoppers in Australia will soon be able to zip in and out of the store in record time, bypassing the lines for cashiers or self-checkout kiosks altogether. They can just walk in, make their selections, and walk out with their bags in hand.

The secret to this express shopping experience is the “Caper Cart,” an AI (artificial intelligence)-powered smart trolley from San Francisco-based Instacart. In its first deployment in the Asia Pacific (APAC) region, the system is being tested by Coles Supermarkets, a food and beverage retailer with more than 1,800 grocery and liquor stores throughout the country.

How green is your glue?

If you’re looking to make the packaging process more eco-friendly, the obvious place to start is with the box itself. And that’s exactly what Salt Lake City-based Packsize did when it made its initial foray into sustainable packaging back in 2002. That year, the company launched its first product, an innovative on-demand packaging system designed to reduce cardboard waste (and the need for filler material) by creating a right-sized box for each shipment.

Now the company is ready for the next step: greening up the glue.
