More than 70 acres of industrial land for sale or lease in south Columbus

More than 70 acres of industrial land for sale or lease in south Columbus

CBRE is listing 70+ acres of industrial-zoned land for sale or lease in south Columbus. Joseph Kimener, senior associate, is the listing agent for 2211 Parsons Avenue, the former home of Columbus Castings.

"Demolition on the site is already underway, and we anticipate it to be finished by the end of the year," said Jonathan Reich, co-CEO of Reich Brothers. "This location has so much potential, and once our work there is finished, it will be ready to begin a new chapter for this location that has been the heart of industry in south Columbus for more than a century."

"The former Columbus Castings facility brings on line a new industrial site, which is desperately needed in the region, in an area that needs more jobs for the people that live there," said Nate Green with the Montrose Group. "The partnership with the City of Columbus, Columbus 2020 and JobsOhio is crucial to making this project a reality".

"This is an extraordinary site with direct access to rail, interstate and state highways, with utilities in place and in close proximity to several adjacent neighborhoods that can provide an abundance of skilled workers to prospective businesses," said Quinten Harris, Deputy Director, City of Columbus Department of Development. "A 70+ acre contiguous site, within the Columbus outer-belt is increasingly rare and ideal for industrial development."

"Industrial zoned land within I-270 is extremely rare, especially a parcel with more than 70 acres," said Mr. Kimener. "This site meets the nationwide trend of the 'last mile,' where warehousing is moving closer to the city center so that it can provide faster delivery times for the customer. 2211 Parsons Avenue is an excellent last mile location ready to deliver the speed and convenience customers expect."

The Brownfield Redevelopment site is situated in an excellent location, with easy access to I-71 at State Route 104 and nearby amenities. Demolition on the site is currently underway and will be ready for redevelopment in the 4th quarter of 2018.

Australian supermarket chain rolls out AI-powered grocery carts

Grocery shoppers in Australia will soon be able to zip in and out of the store in record time, bypassing the lines for cashiers or self-checkout kiosks altogether. They can just walk in, make their selections, and walk out with their bags in hand.

The secret to this express shopping experience is the “Caper Cart,” an AI (artificial intelligence)-powered smart trolley from San Francisco-based Instacart. In its first deployment in the Asia Pacific (APAC) region, the system is being tested by Coles Supermarkets, a food and beverage retailer with more than 1,800 grocery and liquor stores throughout the country.

How green is your glue?

If you’re looking to make the packaging process more eco-friendly, the obvious place to start is with the box itself. And that’s exactly what Salt Lake City-based Packsize did when it made its initial foray into sustainable packaging back in 2002. That year, the company launched its first product, an innovative on-demand packaging system designed to reduce cardboard waste (and the need for filler material) by creating a right-sized box for each shipment.

Now the company is ready for the next step: greening up the glue.
