Cloud Logistics Partners With Truckstop.com to Help Shippers Tender Loads in Real-Time

Cloud Logistics Partners With Truckstop.com to Help Shippers Tender Loads in Real-Time

Cloud Logistics, a leading innovator and provider of next-generation transportation management systems (TMS), has integrated its TMS solution with Truckstop.com's RateMate, a spot market rate index that allows users to see rates paid and posted by brokers and carriers.

"In a very volatile market, having current, accurate benchmark data readily available is crucial for transportation planners," comments David Landau, Executive Vice President for Cloud Logistics. "By integrating RateMate from Truckstop.com into our Workbench, our customers get the information they need to make the best decisions while tendering or receiving quotes on loads."

The focus of the integration effort was to provide seamless visibility to lane-specific benchmark data. This has been accomplished by adding a "Benchmark" button in the carrier plan on the Workbench screen. With one click, planners have instant access to the latest industry data for the lane, equipment type and desired date range. When planners are evaluating contracted rates available for a load or while reviewing spot quote bids from various carriers, they now have the market intelligence needed to save freight spend while still assuring high service levels.

The spot market continues to remain very active. In the first half of 2017, the Cloud Logistics network saw an increase in spot market activity of 150%. Solutions like RateMate help customers maximize the benefits they receive while leveraging Cloud Logistics' easy-to-use spot quote features.

"RateMate is the type of innovation that matches Cloud Logistics' mission. It provides clear, instant insight into the potential cost of a shipment, at that moment, in that location, which translates to leverage," said Nick Wynkoop, Product Marketing Manager for Rates and TMS at Truckstop.com. "When skilled logistics pros get their hands on that kind of information, it translates to insights, opportunities, and ultimately ROI. We're excited to be able to offer RateMate to all of Cloud Logistics' customers as an integrated part of their transportation solution."

Cloud Logistics will be exhibiting at the annual CSCMP EDGE conference in Atlanta, GA September 24-26. Please stop by booth #411 for a live demonstration of the Cloud Logistics TMS solution.

Australian supermarket chain rolls out AI-powered grocery carts

Grocery shoppers in Australia will soon be able to zip in and out of the store in record time, bypassing the lines for cashiers or self-checkout kiosks altogether. They can just walk in, make their selections, and walk out with their bags in hand.

The secret to this express shopping experience is the “Caper Cart,” an AI (artificial intelligence)-powered smart trolley from San Francisco-based Instacart. In its first deployment in the Asia Pacific (APAC) region, the system is being tested by Coles Supermarkets, a food and beverage retailer with more than 1,800 grocery and liquor stores throughout the country.

How green is your glue?

If you’re looking to make the packaging process more eco-friendly, the obvious place to start is with the box itself. And that’s exactly what Salt Lake City-based Packsize did when it made its initial foray into sustainable packaging back in 2002. That year, the company launched its first product, an innovative on-demand packaging system designed to reduce cardboard waste (and the need for filler material) by creating a right-sized box for each shipment.

Now the company is ready for the next step: greening up the glue.
