ICAT Logistics Expands Their Presence on the West Coast with its Newest Office Location

Elkridge, MD - March 13, 2017 - ICAT Logistics, Inc. (ICAT) announces their newest office in San Jose, CA, under Agency Owner Liza Finuliar. The new California office is set in a prime location where Liza and her team can service domestic and international shipments, as well as large same-day cartage for local customers. Being in very close proximity to both the San Jose and San Francisco International Airports, the team will be able to provide quick and efficient solutions for their customers located in the Bay Area.

Liza brings many years of experience in business ownership along with 9 years of logistics experience, including positions as a Business Development and Operations Manager. In 2010, she started her own cartage company, focusing mainly on hazmat freight. "I have a heavy focus on hazmat shipments. That's my niche, especially since many carriers in the Bay Area are unable to handle those types of moves" says Liza. She currently has a fleet of three trucks and drivers, all of whom are DG (Dangerous Goods) certified.

"I have known Liza for many years and have always respected her attention to customers, as well as her business knowledge and values. She is a perfect fit for ICAT and we are looking forward to helping her reach her full potential," says Chief Growth Officer, Hann Livingston, who has developed a strong business relationship with Liza over the years.

Liza attributes her decision in joining the ICAT network to several factors, including the:

• Passion and perseverance of everyone throughout the company
• Overall integrity and commitment of ICAT to build a strong network; and
• Scope of domestic and international knowledge spanning several decades.

"One of the biggest reasons that I chose to join ICAT Logistics was the genuine passion that I was greeted with when I visited the corporate office," says Finuliar. "Everyone was dedicated to what they do to contribute to a successful team."

"We are very excited to have Liza and her team join the ICAT family. Liza's history of business success and customer care are just two of the many reasons she will undoubtedly have a profound impact on our entire network," President and CEO, Rick Campbell comments.

The new San Jose office is located at 2570 North First Street, San Jose, CA 95131. Liza and her team can be reached at (866) 200-7443.

Australian supermarket chain rolls out AI-powered grocery carts

Grocery shoppers in Australia will soon be able to zip in and out of the store in record time, bypassing the lines for cashiers or self-checkout kiosks altogether. They can just walk in, make their selections, and walk out with their bags in hand.

The secret to this express shopping experience is the “Caper Cart,” an AI (artificial intelligence)-powered smart trolley from San Francisco-based Instacart. In its first deployment in the Asia Pacific (APAC) region, the system is being tested by Coles Supermarkets, a food and beverage retailer with more than 1,800 grocery and liquor stores throughout the country.

How green is your glue?

If you’re looking to make the packaging process more eco-friendly, the obvious place to start is with the box itself. And that’s exactly what Salt Lake City-based Packsize did when it made its initial foray into sustainable packaging back in 2002. That year, the company launched its first product, an innovative on-demand packaging system designed to reduce cardboard waste (and the need for filler material) by creating a right-sized box for each shipment.

Now the company is ready for the next step: greening up the glue.
