Houston, TX., November 27, 2023 – Equipment Depot, America's largest independently operated material handling and rental source company, is pleased to announce Jiram Pelayo successfully ranked in the top 10 while also achieving the highest score on the Jungheinrich® Order Picker skills test at the Mitsubishi Logisnext Americas Master Technician Challenge.

The Master Technician Challenge is comprised of technicians who received the top 20 highest-ranked scores from an earlier qualifier. The 20 finalists are invited to the Logisnext Training Center in Houston, Texas, where they compete for over $10,000 in shared prizes during a two-day skills event.

Participants are presented with ten challenge stations designed to test their knowledge and skill levels on a variety of material handling products. The goal of the Master Technician Challenge is to promote technician training for the Logisnext dealer network and is open to all dealer technicians who currently hold a Master Technician Certification across North and South America.

“It was exciting to apply my product knowledge. This experience will definitely transfer to my work environment and my customers’ jobs,” says Pelayo. “The event was challenging but an incredible opportunity. It was thrilling to go head-to-head with the best technicians in our industry.”

Australian supermarket chain rolls out AI-powered grocery carts

Grocery shoppers in Australia will soon be able to zip in and out of the store in record time, bypassing the lines for cashiers or self-checkout kiosks altogether. They can just walk in, make their selections, and walk out with their bags in hand.

The secret to this express shopping experience is the “Caper Cart,” an AI (artificial intelligence)-powered smart trolley from San Francisco-based Instacart. In its first deployment in the Asia Pacific (APAC) region, the system is being tested by Coles Supermarkets, a food and beverage retailer with more than 1,800 grocery and liquor stores throughout the country.
