MADISON, WI (Apr. 21, 2020) – RateLinx announced today the appointment of Steve Horler as Chief Commercial Officer effective immediately. Horler previously held the position of Chief Procurement Officer and Vice President Logistics, GEC Packaging Technologies.

Before joining RateLinx, Horler developed an integrated supply chain function for GEC Packaging Technologies, including a merger of Graham Packaging, Evergreen Packaging, and Closure Systems International. During his five-year tenure at GEC, Horler achieved $250M savings through streamlining the global supply chain and a $100M reduction in working capital through improved supply chain systems. Prior to GEC, Horler was Vice President, Logistics and Global Sourcing Chemicals for Masco Corporation and was instrumental in implementing the RateLinx solution into the organization.

Australian supermarket chain rolls out AI-powered grocery carts

Grocery shoppers in Australia will soon be able to zip in and out of the store in record time, bypassing the lines for cashiers or self-checkout kiosks altogether. They can just walk in, make their selections, and walk out with their bags in hand.

The secret to this express shopping experience is the “Caper Cart,” an AI (artificial intelligence)-powered smart trolley from San Francisco-based Instacart. In its first deployment in the Asia Pacific (APAC) region, the system is being tested by Coles Supermarkets, a food and beverage retailer with more than 1,800 grocery and liquor stores throughout the country.
