PULSE Integration showcasing AutoStore solutions at the Grocery Shop Show in Las Vegas, Nevada

Attendees can visit booth 426 to learn more about the future concept design. Using locai's digital commerce platform, customers can shop their grocer's aisles via in-store kiosks, mobile phones or their desktops and have their groceries picked and packed via the AutoStore system within minutes. Given the speed of the AutoStore system, shoppers can place their order in the store and within minutes have their order available for pick-up while they wait, enjoy experiencing a grocer's prepared food service or shop for other items they may prefer to handle on their own.

The AutoStore system will also serve as the fulfillment hub for online shoppers in the area giving the grocer a more profitable fulfillment solution while improving inventory control and reducing congestion in the store aisles.

With the highest density ratio of any goods-to-person system on the market, PULSE Integration's AutoStore solution can increase the storage capacity from a company's current building or move the DC to a city center location to obtain speedy shipment times and worthwhile cost savings. AutoStore is the very definition of space efficiency as it delivers the highest storage density ratio of any ASRS. Clients can achieve four times the storage capacity within the same footprint as with manual storage, and, in many cases, double the storage capacity compared to other goods-to-person systems.

"I can't emphasize enough the flexibility and performance of the AutoStore System. Being an integrator for shuttle-based systems and other robotic material handling systems, none of them come close to AutoStore's capabilities in terms of flexibility, scalability and storage density. We're thrilled to partner with both locai and Cuhaci & Peterson to bring these capabilities to the grocery industry." - Chris Paulsen, CEO of PULSE Integration

Australian supermarket chain rolls out AI-powered grocery carts

Grocery shoppers in Australia will soon be able to zip in and out of the store in record time, bypassing the lines for cashiers or self-checkout kiosks altogether. They can just walk in, make their selections, and walk out with their bags in hand.

The secret to this express shopping experience is the “Caper Cart,” an AI (artificial intelligence)-powered smart trolley from San Francisco-based Instacart. In its first deployment in the Asia Pacific (APAC) region, the system is being tested by Coles Supermarkets, a food and beverage retailer with more than 1,800 grocery and liquor stores throughout the country.

How green is your glue?

If you’re looking to make the packaging process more eco-friendly, the obvious place to start is with the box itself. And that’s exactly what Salt Lake City-based Packsize did when it made its initial foray into sustainable packaging back in 2002. That year, the company launched its first product, an innovative on-demand packaging system designed to reduce cardboard waste (and the need for filler material) by creating a right-sized box for each shipment.

Now the company is ready for the next step: greening up the glue.
