GlobalTranz CEO receives top technology honors

GlobalTranz Enterprises, Inc. CEO Renee Krug has received two business awards for technology achievement, the company said today.

The Phoenix-based technology vendor and third-party logistics provider (3PL) said Krug received a gold Woman of the Year in Technology award and a silver Most Innovative Woman in Technology award as part of the 2019 Stevie Awards for Women in Business. The Stevie Awards honor executives, entrepreneurs, employees, and corporations worldwide.


"Renee is an action-oriented executive whose presence at GlobalTranz has been instrumental to the company's success since she joined in 2014," Bob Farrell, executive chairman of GlobalTranz, said in a statement. "This distinction is a well-deserved recognition of the impact she continues to make not only at GlobalTranz but across the industry."

GlobalTranz has developed a number of new technology products and capabilities under Krug's leadership, the company said. She has been instrumental in GlobalTranz's overall growth, including strong increases in gross and net revenue driven by growth in the company's managed transportation services offering and continued merger and acquisition activity, the company also said.

The unemployment rate in the U.S. transportation sector was flat in December 2024 compared to the same month last year, coming in at 4.3% (not seasonally adjusted), according to the latest numbers from the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, part of the U.S. Department of Transportation.

East and Gulf coast strike averted with 11th-hour agreement

Shippers today are praising an 11th-hour contract agreement that has averted the threat of a strike by dockworkers at East and Gulf coast ports that could have frozen container imports and exports as soon as January 16.

The agreement came late last night between the International Longshoremen’s Association (ILA) representing some 45,000 workers and the United States Maritime Alliance (USMX) that includes the operators of port facilities up and down the coast.
