CipherLab, which provides automated identification and data capture systems, is now offering its first product embedded with the Windows Mobile operating system: the CipherLab CP40 Series Industrial Mobile Computers. With Windows Mobile, users can access a wealth of pre-existing applications for industrial, distribution, or field-service applications. It also allows customers to easily customize how their handheld is configured.
The CP40 Series, which includes both the CP40 and CP45 handheld computers, come with a built-in scanner, camera, phone, and Internet access. The CipherLab CP40 and CP45 are lightweight, thin, and ergonomic. All of the units are less than an inch thick. Each handheld comes bundled with a communication/charging cradle, spare battery, USB cable, power supply, headphones, and an extra stylus.
For warehousing, the CP40 Series offers RFID (radio frequency identification) and built-in cameras to capture quality defects. Where real-time data sharing is essential, WLAN (wireless local area network) can be used for wireless access to enterprise resource planning software.
For logistics applications (package/mail and direct store delivery), the CP40 Series provides GPS route navigation and WWAN (wireless wide area network) data communication. A touch screen can be used for signature capture and WPAN (wireless personal area network) for mobile printing of invoices for faster payment.
