Datalogic Mobile's Kyman is a new rugged mobile computer that incorporates innovations in ergonomics, design, and system architecture for demanding transportation and logistics, field-force automation, and warehousing applications. Kyman offers reliability, ruggedness, long run time, flexible communication options, and efficient data capture, according to the company. The unit is suited for workers in inventory, picking, and shipping and receiving, and features a lightweight, ergonomic design that reduces operator fatigue without compromising reliability and robustness.
Kyman is also designed to meet the needs of outdoor applications. IP64 sealing protects the unit in wet and dusty environments. And it can handle a six-foot drop to concrete and a wide range of operating temperatures. Kyman uses a fast Intel X Scale processor and the latest Windows CE operating system. Simultaneous wireless communication capabilities?including Bluetooth, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g, and GPRS/GSM/EDGE?enable fast transactions and seamless interaction with information systems. RF security protocols WPA and WPA2 keep data secure, and Cisco Compatible Extensions (CCX) Version 3 makes it possible to leverage all the advantages offered by a Cisco WLAN infrastructure.
Kyman also has a wide variety of data-capture options, including RFID HF-ISO, voice recognition, and bar code. Options for barcode reading include standard laser, extra long range laser, and 2D imager. Kyman's standard laser includes Datalogic green spot technology that gives visual confirmation of a positive code read.
