Transplace Hires Matthew Harding as Senior Vice President of Data Science

May 6, 2019 (Dallas, TX) - Transplace, a leading provider of transportation management services and logistics technology solutions, today announced the appointment of Matthew Harding as the company's senior vice president of data science. Harding will lead Transplace's Data Insights & Analytics team to derive useful and actionable insights out of internal network data, as well as support partnership and collaboration with companies with deep artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning expertise. This will drive Transplace's efforts to understand and utilize this information to deliver ongoing customer and business value. Harding will report directly to Transplace CTO Jim French.

"Matthew brings extensive experience in transportation and logistics and deep expertise in utilizing market intelligence to deliver meaningful results," said Frank McGuigan, CEO, Transplace. "His leadership and strategic approach to data science and making information actionable will strengthen our position as a leading provider of logistics services and technology to shippers."

With more than 20 years of supply chain and transportation industry experience, Matthew has held numerous leadership roles supporting consulting, technology, data analytics and third party logistics (3PL) services. Matthew comes to Transplace from Chainalytics, where he served as vice president, freight market intelligence consortiums, and developed transportation market intelligence products for shippers and 3PLs. Prior to Chainalytics, Matthew serviced as vice president of consulting at Transplace, where he was responsible for driving new consulting services, strategic carrier development and claims activities. He has also held leadership positions at Manhattan Associates, Logistics.com, Inc. and The Sabre Group.

Jim French stated, "Transplace continues to invest in our use of data science to enable our customers to make more strategic decisions driven by analytics. Bringing Matthew onboard supports that commitment, allowing us to further extract meaningful insights from the 20 million shipments and $8 billion worth of freight going through Transplace's system - all with the goal to help our customers increase efficiency, reduce costs and improve service."

"I am excited to rejoin Transplace and support the company's commitment to leveraging network data and market intelligence to deliver greater value to its customers," said Harding. "I look forward to helping Transplace leverage the large amounts of shipper data available within its network to improve supply chain predictability and performance."

Australian supermarket chain rolls out AI-powered grocery carts

Grocery shoppers in Australia will soon be able to zip in and out of the store in record time, bypassing the lines for cashiers or self-checkout kiosks altogether. They can just walk in, make their selections, and walk out with their bags in hand.

In its first deployment in the Asia Pacific (APAC) region, the system is being tested by Coles Supermarkets, a food and beverage retailer with more than 1,800 grocery and liquor stores throughout the country.
