WITRON experiences consistent and sustained growth in 2018

WITRON (Parkstein, Germany) Is proud to report a 6% growth in sales, the addition of 400 jobs globally and numerous contracts signed with regular and new customers in 2018. Revenues of 546 million Euros (614 million US$) in sales were generated by WITRON worldwide, with services accounting for more than 30% of the total sales of the WITRON Group. The service department accounted for 181 million Euros (203.5 million UD$) in revenue for an increase of 16% over fiscal 2017. WITRON employs 3,500 people worldwide, with 1,500 based in the Parkstein HQ and a staff of 2,000 service team members operating worldwide.

The continued growth was fueled by the awarding of new projects and expansion / modernization contracts to existing installations for notable clients including:

ASKO (Norway), Diapar (France), Festo (USA), Heidelberger Druckmaschinen (Germany), Kroger (USA), Mercadona (Spain), Metro (Canada), Migros (Switzerland), Phoenix Contact (Germany) and Walmart (USA + Canada)

Almost 70% of WITRON's contracts were generated in Europe, while North America contributed 30%, a marked increase from just a few short years ago. "Our OPM system continues to be the benchmark in food retail automation across the globe. The current 4th system generation provides many functionalities that guarantee our customers a holistic end-to-end transparency both inside and outside the logistics center," explains CEO Helmut Prieschenk. 90% of WITRON's orders derive from the retail and distribution sector with the focus on food retail. "In combination with multi-functional piece-picking systems, such as the All-in-One Order Fulfillment (AIO), we are able to optimally map the demands of hybrid logistics centers, from which our customers handle both the store business as well as the E-Commerce business at the same time," said Prieschenk.

In January 2019, the Australian food retailer, Coles, and WITRON signed a contract for the construction of two Omni-Channel distribution centers. This will be the first automated WITRON logistics project in the Southern Hemiäphere. It also marks another milestone event, the sale of the thousandth COM machine - the center piece of WITRON's OPM system. OPM is considered the most successful fully automated case storage and order picking system within the logistics processes of food retail across the globe.
