Supply Chain Now Radio Founder Chris Barnes Named APICS Fellow

Chris Barnes, the Co-Founder and Executive Producer of Supply Chain Now Radio and Executive Vice President of APICS Atlanta has achieved the designation of APICS Fellow.

An elite group of professionals —.5 percent of membership—have achieved the APICS Fellow designation in all three APICS Body of Knowledge certification areas, including:

• Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP)
• Certified in Logistics, Transportation and Distribution (CLTD)
• Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM)

"I am honored and humbled to be included in such a rare collection of professionals dedicated to the supply chain management industry. My 25 year involvement with APICS has included numerous leadership opportunities and more importantly, opportunities to have an impact on others as they improve their supply chain acumen and knowledge," said Barnes. "I thank Gary Smith, Vice President Supply Logistics at MTA New York City Transit and Mark Williams, President, Williams Supply Chain Group, Inc. for their mentorship and support in pursuit of earning the Fellow designations. I also thank the numerous people I have had a chance to share ideas with through conference presentations, seminars and webinars and the many students who allowed me to guide them through the APICS body of knowledge."

Achieving certification indicates the individual had the dedication and discipline to invest multiple months of study and preparation on professional development and is committed to continuing to study supply chain trends and best practices. Depending on pace of study each certification can take anywhere from 6 months to 2 years. Overall there are roughly 140,000 people with an APICS certification credential. Given each certification covers a different part of the supply chain, individuals can receive one, two or all three certifications, depending on their interests.

Individuals who are further committed to staying abreast of supply chain developments, providing supply chain thought leadership (presenting, publishing) and sharing the APICS body of knowledge content with colleagues (teaching, facilitating, volunteering) are eligible to be awarded a Fellow designation.
