DACHSER USA OPENS DETROIT OFFICE TO SUPPORT GROWING MIDWEST MARKET

Detroit, Michigan (August 21, 2018) - Family-owned global logistics company Dachser has expanded its Midwestern footprint yet again, opening a new location in Detroit, making it the fifth office in the region.

Detroit is best known as the center of the U.S. automotive industry, with the "Big Three" auto manufacturers headquartered in Metro Detroit. The new location provides Dachser with the ability to work with another sizeable U.S. airport that services a large number of international flights. This expansion will further meet the demand of Dachser's customers as the company becomes even more integrated into the automotive industry.

"After recently expanding the Cincinnati and Minneapolis offices, Detroit was the next logical step for our Midwest expansion," said Frank Guenzerodt, President and CEO of Dachser USA Air & Sea Logistics Inc. "As a service provider, being close to our customers is vital. Therefore, we will continue to focus our efforts on expanding our physical footprint in the United States, as well as finding innovative ways to meet customers' needs best."

Dachser combines its efficient European road transport and warehousing network with global air and sea logistics offering shippers integrated logistics solutions from a single source while optimizing its worldwide supply chains. Besides continuously focusing on the European and Asian trade lanes, Dachser USA is also expanding business to and from Latin America.

"We are consistently searching for ways to improve our intelligent combination of logistics network competencies to achieve the best possible connection between our markets. This expansion into Detroit will further our ability to serve the growing demands presented by the automotive industry", said Guenzerodt.

Automotive accounts will be serviced by a dedicated team lead by Conway Jeffress, Key Account Manager. The new facility is located at 38705 Seven Mile Road, Suite 175, Livonia, MI 48152 and can be reached at dachser.detroit-asl@dachser.com or (313) 626-5012.

Australian supermarket chain rolls out AI-powered grocery carts

Grocery shoppers in Australia will soon be able to zip in and out of the store in record time, bypassing the lines for cashiers or self-checkout kiosks altogether. They can just walk in, make their selections, and walk out with their bags in hand.

The secret to this express shopping experience is the “Caper Cart,” an AI (artificial intelligence)-powered smart trolley from San Francisco-based Instacart. In its first deployment in the Asia Pacific (APAC) region, the system is being tested by Coles Supermarkets, a food and beverage retailer with more than 1,800 grocery and liquor stores throughout the country.
