PILOT PROMOTES TWO TEAM MEMBERS TO REGIONAL VICE PRESIDENT IN THE NORTHEAST AND SOUTHEAST

PILOT PROMOTES TWO TEAM MEMBERS TO REGIONAL VICE PRESIDENT IN THE NORTHEAST AND SOUTHEAST

LIMA, PA - July 6, 2018 - Pilot Freight Services (Pilot), a worldwide provider of transportation and logistics services, announces the promotion of two team members as part of the company's continued growth and expansion in the e-commerce and international business markets. Brian Flower and Christine Morgan have both been appointed regional vice presidents, reporting directly to COO Zach Pollock, and responsible for managing, supporting and acting as mentors to the district managers within their respective territories.

In his new role as northeast regional vice president, Brian Flower will continue to focus on optimizing efficiencies to grow the business and implement new systems to meet the needs of customers. Prior to his promotion, Flower served as the district manager of Pilot's Newark, NJ (EWR) station since he joined the company in 2010. During his first year at Pilot, EWR became the company's first corporate certified cargo screen facility (CCSF) and Flower helped model the program for the company as it expanded to other stations. He has provided a link for other stations to IT by testing company initiatives prior to launch. Flower's team has earned a top spot in operations excellence rankings year after year and has been the recipient of four peer-nominated awards celebrating the station's efforts.

Christine Morgan has successfully implemented business growth strategies since joining Pilot in 2015. As the southeast regional vice president, she will drive revenue and oversee the region from Pilot's Charlotte station. She has held managerial roles in the company's Greenville, SC (GSP) and Charlotte, NC (CLT) stations. In Greenville, she facilitated solutions to enhance new and existing client accounts and grew final mile deliveries. She has nearly doubled review for GSP station since she joined the team and profits at CLT have increased by more than 25 percent.

"Pilot is dedicated to developing talent from within our organization," said Zach Pollock, COO of Pilot Freight Services. "In line with our overall growth initiatives this year, we are confident that Brian and Christine will lead their teams with the dedication and commitment to success with which they've shown throughout their tenure in the company."

Australian supermarket chain rolls out AI-powered grocery carts

Grocery shoppers in Australia will soon be able to zip in and out of the store in record time, bypassing the lines for cashiers or self-checkout kiosks altogether. They can just walk in, make their selections, and walk out with their bags in hand.

The secret to this express shopping experience is the “Caper Cart,” an AI (artificial intelligence)-powered smart trolley from San Francisco-based Instacart. In its first deployment in the Asia Pacific (APAC) region, the system is being tested by Coles Supermarkets, a food and beverage retailer with more than 1,800 grocery and liquor stores throughout the country.

How green is your glue?

If you’re looking to make the packaging process more eco-friendly, the obvious place to start is with the box itself. And that’s exactly what Salt Lake City-based Packsize did when it made its initial foray into sustainable packaging back in 2002. That year, the company launched its first product, an innovative on-demand packaging system designed to reduce cardboard waste (and the need for filler material) by creating a right-sized box for each shipment.

Now the company is ready for the next step: greening up the glue.
