This custom box-making On Demand Packaging® machine minimizes operating, material, and shipping costs for internet retailers, while improving productivity and the end user's experience.

iQ3™ from Packsize Resolves Big Box Problem for Ship-from-Store Retail Community

CHICAGO — June 6, 2018 —E-commerce retailers are embracing ship-from-store as a viable method to fulfill and distribute online orders from their stores rather than a distribution center. Outfitting a fully equipped shipping room at the retail storefront with the necessary materials to pick, pack and ship is now possible with the iQ3™ custom-box making machine from Packsize.
The iQ3™ will be on display at IRCE 2018 from June 6-8 in booth #1706 at the McCormick Place West in Chicago and at EastPack, June 12-14 in booth #2251 at the Jacob K. Javits Center in New York City.

Internet retailers are aware of the increasing costs for packaging materials, and are actively considering new options to bring fulfillment costs under control. The iQ3™ helps retailers of all sizes respond to evolving ship-from-store demands and other developing e-commerce trends affecting their bottom line.

In a space-saving design of only 62 square feet, the portable iQ3™ delivers a high degree of flexibility and speed, enabling 250 to 500 cartons to be shipped a day to create an effective packaging workflow from start to finish. The iQ3 also offers an onboard air compressor that eliminates the need for air drop connections as well as the GL3™, an operator-friendly, box-sealing device that provides additional workspace utility and convenience.

Utilizing z-Fold® corrugated in right-sized packaging that protects against damage, the iQ3™ system also addresses the continued focus on shipping volumes and dimensional weight concerns.

Australian supermarket chain rolls out AI-powered grocery carts

Grocery shoppers in Australia will soon be able to zip in and out of the store in record time, bypassing the lines for cashiers or self-checkout kiosks altogether. They can just walk in, make their selections, and walk out with their bags in hand.

The secret to this express shopping experience is the “Caper Cart,” an AI (artificial intelligence)-powered smart trolley from San Francisco-based Instacart. In its first deployment in the Asia Pacific (APAC) region, the system is being tested by Coles Supermarkets, a food and beverage retailer with more than 1,800 grocery and liquor stores throughout the country.

How green is your glue?

If you’re looking to make the packaging process more eco-friendly, the obvious place to start is with the box itself. And that’s exactly what Salt Lake City-based Packsize did when it made its initial foray into sustainable packaging back in 2002. That year, the company launched its first product, an innovative on-demand packaging system designed to reduce cardboard waste (and the need for filler material) by creating a right-sized box for each shipment.

Now the company is ready for the next step: greening up the glue.
