Pelican BioThermal Customer, Accuristix, Presents at Annual Cold Chain Global Forum - Canada

Accuristix session at 16th Annual Cold Chain GDP & Temperature Management Logistics Summit - Canada to explore the benefit of reusable packaging for pharmacy, healthcare distribution in extreme environments

(TORONTO - Feb. 28, 2018) - Pelican BioThermal, the global name in temperature controlled packaging, is sponsoring a speaker track session featuring customer, Accuristix during IQPC's 16th Annual Cold Chain GDP & Temperature Management Logistics Summit - Canada in Toronto.

During the session, Accuristix, Canada's leading third party service provider for the healthcare industry, will contrast the issues presented by single use products for pack-out with the benefits of reusable packaging. The presentation will draw from both the company's experience with high volume shippers, as well as experience within a multi-client (3PL) environment. The session, titled "Universal Pack Out Operations for Canadian Distribution," will take place today as part of "Track B - Ignition Discussions."

"Canada's sheer size and wide range of temperatures throughout the year present a range of challenges for temperature controlled payloads," explained Kevin Lawler, Pelican BioThermal vice president of sales. "Accuristix's use of our TIC panels for the company's Canadian clients provides a compelling example of how reusable packaging helps streamline the storing and packing process. This solution allows for a longer shipping duration and can be qualified regardless of season, transportation mode or destination."

Pelican BioThermal will also display offerings during the show, including reusable Credo shippers and the TIC Smart Indicator, Chronos Advance. Attendees will have an opportunity to learn more about Pelican BioThermal's reusable line of Credo Cube shippers and the service center network that supports their pack-out, conditioning, recovery and redeployment worldwide.

Australian supermarket chain rolls out AI-powered grocery carts

Grocery shoppers in Australia will soon be able to zip in and out of the store in record time, bypassing the lines for cashiers or self-checkout kiosks altogether. They can just walk in, make their selections, and walk out with their bags in hand.

The secret to this express shopping experience is the “Caper Cart,” an AI (artificial intelligence)-powered smart trolley from San Francisco-based Instacart. In its first deployment in the Asia Pacific (APAC) region, the system is being tested by Coles Supermarkets, a food and beverage retailer with more than 1,800 grocery and liquor stores throughout the country.

How green is your glue?

If you’re looking to make the packaging process more eco-friendly, the obvious place to start is with the box itself. And that’s exactly what Salt Lake City-based Packsize did when it made its initial foray into sustainable packaging back in 2002. That year, the company launched its first product, an innovative on-demand packaging system designed to reduce cardboard waste (and the need for filler material) by creating a right-sized box for each shipment.
