Verigo data loggers approved for use on commercial aircraft under new FAA Advisory Circular 91.21-1D

New FAA Advisory Circular 91.21-1D released on October 27th, 2017 deem bluetooth devices like Verigo's wireless "Pod" dataloggers safe for on board commercial aircraft. Per the FAA, AC 91.21 "provides aircraft owners, operators, and the flying public with information and guidance to comply with Title 14 of the Code of Federal Regulations (14 CFR) part 91, § 91.21. Section 91.21 was established because of the potential for Portable Electronic Devices (PED) to interfere with aircraft navigation or communications systems, and prohibits the operation of PED's not installed aboard U.S.-registered civil aircraft while operating under instrument flight rules (IFR)."

All Verigo data logger models (PA2, PB2, PD0, PG0, PE0, and PH0) are all approved under the AC 91.21-1D section 10.3.2. Per section 10.3.2, "The device may use low-powered wireless communications during flight without the need to comply with paragraph 10.2.1. [...] This includes Bluetooth (IEEE 802.15.1), ZigBee (IEEE 802.15.4)."

Verigo Bluetooth loggers record and wirelessly transmit temperature (and humidity) data and excursion alerts to the user's smartphone or tablet. Verigo's mobile application enables users to view all Pod activity up to 30 meters (100 feet) away.

All data is automatically sent to the Cloud via Verigo's secure iOS™ or Android™ application, allowing users back at the office to search real-time, complete records of all Pod data, view location points, and generate PDF and CSV files for data review and analysis.

Verigo loggers are currently being used in cold supply chains, where product must be maintained at specific cold temperature range. Temperature sensitive shipments within the life science and fresh food industry are currently being monitored by Verigo Pods.
