Old Dominion Tops Mastio's Prestigious Shipper Survey for Eighth Consecutive Year

Mastio's 2017 Award for Quality highlights LTL carrier's premium service

THOMASVILLE, N.C. (Nov. 6, 2017) - Old Dominion Freight Line, Inc. has again won Mastio & Company's 2017 Award for Quality for the eighth consecutive year, as the number one choice for customers seeking value, loyalty and service.

Old Dominion is the only national LTL carrier in the 13-year history of this prestigious annual ranking to top the list eight years in a row.

"Our OD employees are tirelessly dedicated to helping our customers keep their promises. We're honored to once again be recognized by the shipping public for OD's reliability, trustworthiness, responsiveness and care we provide our customers every day," said David Congdon, vice chairman and CEO of Old Dominion Freight Line. "To continue to earn this high distinction validates our commitment to provide premium service, with one of the lowest claims ratios and highest on-time delivery rate in our industry."

"The company with the highest score is considered to be offering the best value, for the perceptions and needs of their customers," said Mastio of its LTL study.

To develop its rankings, Mastio & Company surveyed more than 1,800 industry professionals, gauging customer satisfaction and loyalty. Old Dominion scored highest based on evaluations and customer perceptions of 187 LTL carriers, in service categories such as claims process, billing accuracy, freight tracking capability, damage-free and timely quality of service, and overall satisfaction.

Australian supermarket chain rolls out AI-powered grocery carts

Grocery shoppers in Australia will soon be able to zip in and out of the store in record time, bypassing the lines for cashiers or self-checkout kiosks altogether. They can just walk in, make their selections, and walk out with their bags in hand.

The secret to this express shopping experience is the “Caper Cart,” an AI (artificial intelligence)-powered smart trolley from San Francisco-based Instacart. In its first deployment in the Asia Pacific (APAC) region, the system is being tested by Coles Supermarkets, a food and beverage retailer with more than 1,800 grocery and liquor stores throughout the country.

That year, the company launched its first product, an innovative on-demand packaging system designed to reduce cardboard waste (and the need for filler material) by creating a right-sized box for each shipment.
