LLamasoft Named to Metro Detroit's List of Best and Brightest Companies to Work for

Company Recognized for Commitment to Excellence in Human Resources Practices and Employee Enrichment

ANN ARBOR, Mich. (September 19, 2017) - LLamasoft, a global leader in supply chain optimization software and solutions, today announced that it has been named to the list of Metro Detroit's 2017 Best and Brightest companies to work for.

The Best and Brightest Companies to Work For competition identifies and recognizes organizations that demonstrate a commitment to excellence in their human resource practices and employee enrichment. Organizations are evaluated based on categories such as communication, work-life balance, employee education, diversity, recognition, retention and more.

LLamasoft offers a variety of benefits and perks to its employees, including four weeks of vacation, maternity and paternity leave, flexibility in the option to work from home and monthly employee events such as wine tastings, yoga on the patio, happy hours, chair massages, ice cream bars and more.

"LLamasoft's competitive advantage is its people. We hire great people from all around the world, but that's just the starting point. The real secret is, once you have talented employees onboard, creating and maintaining a culture where every single employee is fully engaged, supported, and able to contribute their meaningful best work. That doesn't happen by accident, you have to focus and work on it every day, which we try to do," said Don Hicks, President and CEO of LLamasoft.

The company also utilizes a unique performance management and employee engagement tool which empowers its team by offering monthly coaching instead of annual reviews, creating a process of continuous feedback, realistic goal setting and real-time recognition. One of LLamasoft's core values speaks directly to its company culture and the importance of enabling an optimal work-life balance for all employees: "we work to live, we don't live to work."

"A top priority of ours is to create a culture that nurtures our team's personal and professional development," added Craig Wigley, Vice President of Employee Success at LLamasoft. "This recognition is a true testament of our commitment to making LLamasoft a great place to work."

LLamasoft will be recognized for this honor at an event celebrating this year's winners on September 22, 2017 at the Detroit Marriott in the Renaissance Center.

Australian supermarket chain rolls out AI-powered grocery carts

Grocery shoppers in Australia will soon be able to zip in and out of the store in record time, bypassing the lines for cashiers or self-checkout kiosks altogether. They can just walk in, make their selections, and walk out with their bags in hand.

The secret to this express shopping experience is the “Caper Cart,” an AI (artificial intelligence)-powered smart trolley from San Francisco-based Instacart. In its first deployment in the Asia Pacific (APAC) region, the system is being tested by Coles Supermarkets, a food and beverage retailer with more than 1,800 grocery and liquor stores throughout the country.

How green is your glue?

If you’re looking to make the packaging process more eco-friendly, the obvious place to start is with the box itself. And that’s exactly what Salt Lake City-based Packsize did when it made its initial foray into sustainable packaging back in 2002. That year, the company launched its first product, an innovative on-demand packaging system designed to reduce cardboard waste (and the need for filler material) by creating a right-sized box for each shipment.

Now the company is ready for the next step: greening up the glue.
