Elmo Expands European Footprint to Meet the Growing Demands of Smart Manufacturing and Robotics

Dedicated sales and support office brings intelligent motion control solutions provider closer to its U.K. customers, bolstering collaboration on smart factories and optimizing machine performance

NASHUA, N.H. - July 19, 2017 - Elmo Motion Control (Elmo), a leading provider of complete motion solutions designed to make smart machines smarter, announced that it has opened a dedicated sales and service office in Burntwood Business Park, West Midlands, United Kingdom. This office furthers Elmo's mission to create a local presence with customer service and immediate support nearby for manufacturers around the world.

Gary Busby, U.K. managing director, Elmo, said, "Opening an office in the U.K. makes it easier for local manufacturers to work collaboratively with Elmo motion control experts. By employing our high-performance, perfect-motion and servo solutions, customers can enhance the productivity levels of intricate smart manufacturing processes. Our products use more compact mechanics and smaller, lighter and safer machines, ultimately decreasing overall costs, improving throughput, increasing efficiency and ensuring greater safety for staff and robots."

Focusing on applications for printing and packaging, machine building, medical, robotics, automated guided vehicles, remotely operated vehicles, inspection machines and harsh environments, Elmo understands the critical nature of precise velocity and location synchronization. The company's innovative, feature-rich, high-power-density and ultra-compact products empower data-driven manufacturing machines that produce touchscreens or solar cells, guide missiles and MRI scanners, optically test silicon substrate, and track satellites.

Haim Monhait, Elmo Motion Control, founder and CEO, said, "Elmo's expansions across Europe illustrate our continued commitment to, and investment in, the design, manufacture and support of the highest quality and most advanced motion control solutions in the industry. For nearly three decades, we have pushed the limits of technology to make solutions that are smart, small and simple. The result is powerful and precise motion control with advanced sensing and monitoring capabilities that boosts the performance of machines beyond expectation.

"These highly efficient, automated machines power smart factories, harness process data to optimize operations, and advance manufacturers into Industry 4.0. Elmo's devotion to breakthrough innovations not only ensures that global manufacturers have access to the technology they need before they need it, but it also puts us on the forefront of the latest industrial revolution with intelligent solutions that bring smart manufacturing to life."

In addition to establishing local offices around the world, Elmo substantially upgraded its production capabilities in Israel to triple capacity, ensure stringent quality control and employ flexible, state-of-the-art manufacturing. The company also opened an advanced manufacturing plant in Poland to meet growing demand for its products from across Europe. Both facilities produce Elmo's full portfolio of products and feature a full testing and burn-in infrastructure. With the Polish facility, Elmo fully complies with the European Union Certificate of Origin (EU COO) requirements.

Australian supermarket chain rolls out AI-powered grocery carts

Grocery shoppers in Australia will soon be able to zip in and out of the store in record time, bypassing the lines for cashiers or self-checkout kiosks altogether. They can just walk in, make their selections, and walk out with their bags in hand.

The secret to this express shopping experience is the “Caper Cart,” an AI (artificial intelligence)-powered smart trolley from San Francisco-based Instacart. In its first deployment in the Asia Pacific (APAC) region, the system is being tested by Coles Supermarkets, a food and beverage retailer with more than 1,800 grocery and liquor stores throughout the country.
