ICAT Logistics Broadens Their Presence with a New Office in Charlotte

ICAT Logistics, Inc. (ICAT) is excited to announce the addition of their Charlotte, NC office! Overseen by Agency Owners Jim Burke, Alan Levesque and Adam Lawrence, the newest team to join the ICAT network brings many years of logistics knowledge. Located less than a + mile away from the Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT), the team has a key advantage to accessing both domestic and international shipments into and out of the airport for their clients, as well as a strategic warehouse location.

Being in a diverse market, the new Charlotte office works in a variety of vertical markets and considers the services they will provide as a 'one-stop shop' for their clients. "We want our customers to automatically think of ICAT whenever they have a shipping need," says Burke.

Addressing shipping needs for their customers throughout the Carolinas, Jim, Alan and Adam have over 60 years of combined logistics and transportation experience. Jim Burke has successfully identified, created and replicated operations excellence within the organizations he has had the opportunity to work for and lead over the years. In the past, he has served as Director of Operations and held Executive Management positions overseeing several Southeast regional logistics offices.

Alan Levesque has had 14 years of ownership experience of a market-leading transportation company in the Southeast United States. Before jumping into an ownership role, he spent 5 years in sales and management positions with an enterprise integration software company.

Adam Lawrence has held an ownership role alongside Alan for the past 14 years. Together, they co-founded their transportation company, with multiple locations in both North and South Carolina. In previous years, Adam has overseen all operations with a heavy focus on growth, partnerships, strategic planning, sales and geographic expansion.

"The vision of how they wanted to grow the Carolina market made Jim, Alan and Adam great additions to the ICAT family. We are thrilled to have them and their team join us. The values and experience they possess will undoubtedly have a tremendous impact on the entire ICAT Logistics network" ICAT's President and CEO, Rick Campbell said.

"We found a true partner in the CLT team," adds Hann Livingston, Chief Growth Officer at ICAT Logistics. "Any agency group with this much experience brings a lot to the table and ICAT is excited to work to make their goals a reality."

With a reputation for providing outstanding customer service, the new Charlotte office will make an impressive impact to ICAT Logistics' network. They currently have a seasoned sales staff and operations team, but are looking to expand as their business grows.

Jim, Alan and Adam agree there are several aspects that influenced them to choose ICAT as a logistics partner, including the:

• Open-mindedness and enthusiasm of the people throughout the company, particularly at the corporate office;
• Commitment to the ICAT agencies and providing quality service to their clients;
• Dedication to their growth strategy and the efforts to promote overall agency growth;
• Application of creative approaches to different scenarios; and
• Willingness to adapt and evolve with the ever-changing logistics and transportation industry

"[ICAT] seemed like it felt right," comments Levesque, speaking of his first visit to the corporate office. "The team was cohesive and had a great vision. The direction of the company aligned with what we wanted to accomplish as an office."

"We realized that ICAT had the best feel - it's a company that is committed to their agency partners and their customers," says Burke. "There will always be 'bumps' and 'bruises' along the way, but ICAT has a growing mentality, and promotes a culture that takes care of their agencies and watches out for their customers - that's what I was looking for in a partner."

Lawrence adds, "After seeking out different opportunities, we chose ICAT due to its great company culture, successful business model and the opportunity to help us grow within the Carolinas. Spending time at the corporate office with Rick and the entire team made me feel positive about the integrity of the people I would be working with."

ICAT's new Charlotte office is located at 3125 Horseshoe Lane, Suite E, Charlotte, NC 28208, and can be reached at (844) 815-6305.

Australian supermarket chain rolls out AI-powered grocery carts

Grocery shoppers in Australia will soon be able to zip in and out of the store in record time, bypassing the lines for cashiers or self-checkout kiosks altogether. They can just walk in, make their selections, and walk out with their bags in hand.

The secret to this express shopping experience is the “Caper Cart,” an AI (artificial intelligence)-powered smart trolley from San Francisco-based Instacart. In its first deployment in the Asia Pacific (APAC) region, the system is being tested by Coles Supermarkets, a food and beverage retailer with more than 1,800 grocery and liquor stores throughout the country.

How green is your glue?

If you’re looking to make the packaging process more eco-friendly, the obvious place to start is with the box itself. And that’s exactly what Salt Lake City-based Packsize did when it made its initial foray into sustainable packaging back in 2002. That year, the company launched its first product, an innovative on-demand packaging system designed to reduce cardboard waste (and the need for filler material) by creating a right-sized box for each shipment.
