New Announcement: Wood Promoted to CFO at Choptank Transport

Choptank Transport, a nationwide third-party logistics provider headquartered in Preston, Maryland announced today the promotion of Marcia Wood to Chief Financial Officer.

"Marcia has provided strong leadership within Choptank, directing our growing accounting team and guiding the development of our IT department and its functions," says Geoff Turner, President and CEO of Choptank. "She has spearheaded many functional changes to our processes that have yielded efficiency across all segments of the business - just an outstanding job."


Prior to Wood's promotion, she served as Choptank's vice-president of finance. During her tenure, the company has grown to five regional locations handling over 150,000 shipments per year with approximately 300 employees. She received a bachelor's in business administration with a concentration in accounting from Goldey-Beacom College in Delaware. Wood is also a licensed certified public accountant and a designated chartered global management accountant.


Additionally, Wood has received several notable awards, such as the Best in Finance CFO Award by the Baltimore Business Journal in 2014 and was the 2006 recipient of the Rising Star Award by Goldey-Beacom College.


She is a graduate of the Shore Leadership program and served on its board for six years including two as president. She also has served on the boards for the United Way of Caroline County and Boy Scout Troop 741 of St Michaels. Helping children develop outstanding character traits and personal finances is important to Marcia which led her to serve as a Coach for Character Counts and Junior Achievement.

Wood is a member of the AICPA (The American Institute of CPA's), the MACPA, (Maryland Association of CPA's), and the Delmarva chapter of the IMA (Institute of Management Accountants).
