Redwood Logistics Named to Best and Brightest Companies To Work For® in Chicago for the Fourth Consecutive Year

CHICAGO — May 30, 2017 — Redwood Logistics (Redwood), a top-100 3PL provider and one of the fastest growing logistics companies in North America, was named one of Chicago's Best and Brightest Companies to Work For® for the fourth consecutive year. Only companies that distinguish themselves as having the most innovative and thoughtful human resources approach can receive this honor.

"I come into work each morning energized by the talented, smart, fun individuals who make up the team here at Redwood," said Todd Berger, president and CEO, Redwood Logistics. "I am extremely proud of the culture we've created over the last 15 years and of the continued success and growth we've seen - and will continue to see - as a result."

The Best and Brightest Companies to Work For® is a program of the National Association for Business Resources that provides the business community with the opportunity to gain recognition, showcase their best practices and demonstrate why they are an ideal place for employees to work. This national program celebrates those companies that are making better business, creating richer lives and building a stronger community as a whole.

To be selected as a Best and Brightest company, an independent research firm evaluates each company's entry based on key measures in various categories. Those categories include compensation, benefits and employee solutions; employee enrichment, engagement and retention; employee education and development; recruitment, selection and orientation; employee achievement and recognition; communication and shared vision; diversity and inclusion; work-life balance; community initiatives; and strategic company performance.

"Profitability and stability is essential for businesses in today's economic climate. Companies that recognize that their employees are the key to their success achieve staying power. Our 2017 winners create their human resource standards to ensure employee satisfaction and they set standards for every business to aspire toward," said Jennifer Kluge, CEO of Best and Brightest Companies to Work For®. "We are proud to honor this year's winners."

The National Association for Business Resources will honor the Best and Brightest companies on Monday, July 17, 2017 at the Chicago Marriott Southwest at Burr Ridge.

The winning companies also compete for 13 elite awards, one granted for each category. In addition, an overall winner that has excelled in all categories will be honored with a Best of the Best Overall award. The elite award winners will be revealed during the luncheon.

Chicago's Best and Brightest Companies to Work For® is sponsored by Baudville, CORP! Magazine, BASIC, Kelly Services, Comerica Bank, ABC 7 Chicago, NOW Health Group, FONA International Inc., Mutual Trust Life Insurance Company, The Management Association of Illinois, Assurance, Verizon Wireless, and Clark Hill.

Australian supermarket chain rolls out AI-powered grocery carts

Grocery shoppers in Australia will soon be able to zip in and out of the store in record time, bypassing the lines for cashiers or self-checkout kiosks altogether. They can just walk in, make their selections, and walk out with their bags in hand.

The secret to this express shopping experience is the “Caper Cart,” an AI (artificial intelligence)-powered smart trolley from San Francisco-based Instacart. In its first deployment in the Asia Pacific (APAC) region, the system is being tested by Coles Supermarkets, a food and beverage retailer with more than 1,800 grocery and liquor stores throughout the country.

How green is your glue?

If you’re looking to make the packaging process more eco-friendly, the obvious place to start is with the box itself. And that’s exactly what Salt Lake City-based Packsize did when it made its initial foray into sustainable packaging back in 2002. That year, the company launched its first product, an innovative on-demand packaging system designed to reduce cardboard waste (and the need for filler material) by creating a right-sized box for each shipment.
