As millions mark World Diabetes Day in November, two intrepid cyclists, supported by Pelican BioThermal, are almost halfway through their global cycling challenge, helping raise awareness about diabetes.
The pedal-powered project, called "For A Piece Of Cake," is a monumental cycling challenge currently being undertaken by riders Chiara Ricciardi and Riccardo Rocchi, who are covering a total of nearly 11,185 miles from Cesena, Italy to Singapore on board bicycles. The annual designated day, which raises awareness about the disease, is pivotal as the International Diabetes Federation estimates 1 in 2 adults currently living with diabetes -- as many as 193 million people worldwide -- are unaware of their condition. Most of these cases are type 2 diabetes.
