Gregory Poole Lift Systems Provides Forklifts to Second Harvest Food Bank

Gregory Poole Lift Systems Provides Forklifts to Second Harvest Food Bank

In the aftermath of Hurricane Matthew, the American Logistics Aid Network (ALAN), via Feeding America, sent out a request for loaner forklifts to assist the Second Harvest Food Bank of Southeast North Carolina. ALAN shared the request with MHEDA (Material Handling Equipment Distributors Association), who reached out to the lift truck dealer network. Within an hour, Gregory Poole Lift Systems of Raleigh, North Carolina, answered the call. Gregory Poole loaned the food bank two forklifts to help with the relief effort for eastern and central North Carolina, which were among the regions most affected by the storm.

According to ALAN, the Second Harvest food bank serves approximately 200,000 people in seven counties around Raleigh. During a typical month they distribute about 850,000 pounds of food. Since the flooding caused by the storm, they have distributed 1.2 million pounds (41% increase in demand). These forklifts have allowed the food bank to bring on additional volunteers and staff to meet the demand. Because of the type of tires on the lifts, they were able to use them outside and set up a drive-through food distribution in their parking lot. Gregory Poole Lift Systems was honored to be able to give back to our community in this time of need.
