Mason Companies Purchases CVP-500 Automated Packing System from ProShip, Inc.

Brookfield, Wis., September 12, 2016 - ProShip, Inc., a Neopost company, today announced that Mason Companies, a nationwide retailer of footwear, apparel and general merchandise, has purchased its CVP-500 automated packing solution. The CVP-500 will optimize all steps of package fulfillment for Mason Companies and will facilitate the company's continued e-commerce growth.

The CVP-500 builds, fills, folds and labels each order in one seamless process and creates a custom-fit package every seven seconds. By creating a custom-fit parcel, the CVP-500 uses 20% less corrugated and eliminates unnecessary void fill. This cost-effective automated packing solution makes fulfillment faster, more reliable and more efficient than ever before.

"We are thrilled to extend our partnership with Mason Companies with the purchase of the CVP-500 automated packing solution," said Scott Eggenberger, Director of Business Development/CVP-500 at ProShip, Inc. "Mason Companies currently uses the ProShip Product Suite, our enterprise-wide, multi-carrier shipping software that optimizes shipping processes. With the CVP-500, the company will have a fully integrated cost-saving solution for order fulfillment that will increase packing and shipping efficiencies, especially during the peak holiday season."

"The CVP-500 will be a great addition to Mason Companies," said Pat Sullivan, Distribution Center Manager at Mason Companies. "We saw the CVP-500 in action while in Europe, where it has been very well received by a number of large retailers. We were extremely impressed with its capabilities and its ability to improve our warehouse efficiency and customer service. At the same time, the CVP-500 will help us to save money in labor, packaging materials and shipping costs. The new system will be installed in time to handle the peak shipping volumes of the upcoming holiday season and we look forward to seeing the valuable results we know this innovative system can achieve."

This is the second CVP-500 automated packing solution sold by ProShip since the system was launched in the United States in February 2016. For more information, visit the website for the CVP-500.

Australian supermarket chain rolls out AI-powered grocery carts

Grocery shoppers in Australia will soon be able to zip in and out of the store in record time, bypassing the lines for cashiers or self-checkout kiosks altogether. They can just walk in, make their selections, and walk out with their bags in hand.

The secret to this express shopping experience is the “Caper Cart,” an AI (artificial intelligence)-powered smart trolley from San Francisco-based Instacart. In its first deployment in the Asia Pacific (APAC) region, the system is being tested by Coles Supermarkets, a food and beverage retailer with more than 1,800 grocery and liquor stores throughout the country.

How green is your glue?

If you’re looking to make the packaging process more eco-friendly, the obvious place to start is with the box itself.
