Global logistics leader BDP International celebrates 50th anniversary

Global logistics leader BDP International celebrates 50th anniversary

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (August 22, 2016) - BDP International, a leading privately held global logistics and transportation services company, celebrated its 50th Anniversary last Friday, Aug. 19.

BDP International traces its origins to 1966, when Richard J. Bolte, Sr. formed the R.J. Bolte Company in Philadelphia. Through a series of mergers, the company became BDP International in 1972. Richard J. Bolte, Sr. was an early adopter of information technology for managing and organizing international freight movements and other aspects of global shippers' supply chains.

In the following half-century, the business has grown into a network of wholly-owned operations, joint ventures and affiliates in nearly 140 countries, including more than 270 offices across the world with more than 4,400 employees.

The company — now led by Chairman and CEO Richard J. Bolte, Jr. — remains a family-owned business that has blossomed into a global leader in transportation, import/export, warehousing and distribution, trade, security and environmental regulatory compliance, process improvement, global logistics modeling and management, supply chain optimization consulting and more.

"This is a feat that was unimaginable in 1966, as most companies today don't stand the test of time. This is a tribute to our legacy of excellent service, dedication to our esteemed customers and, of course, our loyal employees," said Richard J. Bolte, Jr. "This accomplishment is a remarkable feat for the extended family enterprise made possible through the trust and enduring confidence of both our customers and employees."

In 2016 alone, BDP International has released its Smart Retail app, expanded into Morocco and Egypt, was named a Responsible Care® Partner of the Year by the American CHemiätry Council and has been recognized as a 2016 World's Most Ethical Company by the Ethisphere Institute. These accomplishments continue a long line of milestones for the company.

"This golden anniversary is a moment for us to truly take a step back and study the mosaic of BDP," said Richard J. Bolte, Jr. "Indeed, we are a remarkable story, and one with many unwritten chapters remaining."
