Westfalia & Cimcorp Team Up for Webinar on Order Fulfillment with Automated Storage & Layer Picking

York, Pa. - Aug. 9, 2016 - Westfalia Technologies, Inc., a leading provider of logistics solutions for manufacturers and distributors since 1992, and Cimcorp, a manufacturer and integrator of turnkey robotic gantry-based order fulfillment and tire handling solutions, have teamed up to host a live webinar, "Conquer Order Fulfillment with the Union of Automated Storage and Layer Picking." Slated for 2 p.m. (ET) on Tuesday, Aug. 30, this webinar will show how the combination of an automated storage and retrieval system (AS/RS) and a layer picking system gives manufacturers and distributors the power to overcome today's order fulfillment challenges. To register, visit: https://www.westfaliausa.com/order-fulfillment-webinar.

Hosted by Aaron Corcoran, Westfalia account executive, and Derek Rickard, Cimcorp's distribution systems manager, the webinar will discuss current industry trends that lead to a need for automation in warehouse storage and picking. Next, Corcoran and Rickard will detail the components of an AS/RS and an automated layer picking solution to help attendees better understand how they work together to increase productivity and accuracy. After covering key pre-implementation considerations, Corcoran and Rickard will show how to obtain ROI from both solutions by better utilizing warehouse space, reducing dock staging and providing greater customer satisfaction.

"The growing number of SKUs, limited warehouse space and availability of labor make order fulfillment one of the most complex and challenging warehousing functions today," said Aaron Corcoran, account executive, Westfalia Technologies. "Automation technology in the form of a tightly integrated AS/RS and layer picking system is proving one of the most effective and powerful options for overcoming these challenges and setting companies up future growth."

Australian supermarket chain rolls out AI-powered grocery carts

Grocery shoppers in Australia will soon be able to zip in and out of the store in record time, bypassing the lines for cashiers or self-checkout kiosks altogether. They can just walk in, make their selections, and walk out with their bags in hand.

The secret to this express shopping experience is the “Caper Cart,” an AI (artificial intelligence)-powered smart trolley from San Francisco-based Instacart. In its first deployment in the Asia Pacific (APAC) region, the system is being tested by Coles Supermarkets, a food and beverage retailer with more than 1,800 grocery and liquor stores throughout the country.

How green is your glue?

If you’re looking to make the packaging process more eco-friendly, the obvious place to start is with the box itself.
