Paragon Software Systems Drives Growth as Global Demand for Transport Optimization Increases

DALLAS, TX - July 26, 2016 - Paragon Software Systems, Inc., a leader in vehicle routing and scheduling optimization solutions, announces the company has experienced strong growth in the first half of 2016. The company has seen increasing demand for its routing and scheduling solutions in the US, UK and internationally as transport operators look to reduce costs, improve service levels and boost operational performance. This has resulted in a 70 percent increase in the number of organizations that have purchased Paragon software compared to the same period last year, with 50 percent of the sales revenue coming from new customers.

"The global marketplace remains hugely challenging, but at this time of economic uncertainty we are seeing the uptake in our products increase as businesses look to become more efficient and competitive," explains William Salter, CEO and President of Paragon Software Systems. "Our customer-focused approach, combined with an expanding international footprint, means we are ideally-placed to deliver solutions to a growing number of domestic and multinational organizations worldwide."

Earlier this year, Paragon set up a wholly-owned subsidiary in Shanghai to better take advantage of opportunities within China, meanwhile the company has boosted its presence in both the UK and United States with a number of new R&D, customer support and business development appointments.

2016 has already seen a number of portfolio enhancements. It has expanded its Paragon HDX solution with a number of last mile fulfillment modules which maximize the performance of omni-channel fulfillment operations. The PC*MILER interface has also been updated providing Paragon customers with industry standard mileages to help them comply with U.S. Department of Transportation (DoT) and General Services Administration (GSA) distances for approved freight rating and billing.

Paragon has won numerous prestigious awards in the first half of 2016, including:
• Inbound Logistics Top 100 Logistics IT Provider
• SDCE 100 Top Supply Chain
• Food Logistics Top Green Provider

"Paragon is the partner of choice for transport operations worldwide. Customers from leading logistics, distribution, retail and grocery businesses currently use 3,400 routing and scheduling systems installed in more than 1,100 client sites globally. We are committed to providing exceptional support, regularly going the extra mile, to deliver on our promise and help customers achieve measurable success," says Salter.

Australian supermarket chain rolls out AI-powered grocery carts

Grocery shoppers in Australia will soon be able to zip in and out of the store in record time, bypassing the lines for cashiers or self-checkout kiosks altogether. They can just walk in, make their selections, and walk out with their bags in hand.

The secret to this express shopping experience is the “Caper Cart,” an AI (artificial intelligence)-powered smart trolley from San Francisco-based Instacart. In its first deployment in the Asia Pacific (APAC) region, the system is being tested by Coles Supermarkets, a food and beverage retailer with more than 1,800 grocery and liquor stores throughout the country.

How green is your glue?

If you’re looking to make the packaging process more eco-friendly, the obvious place to start is with the box itself. And that’s exactly what Salt Lake City-based Packsize did when it made its initial foray into sustainable packaging back in 2002. That year, the company launched its first product, an innovative on-demand packaging system designed to reduce cardboard waste (and the need for filler material) by creating a right-sized box for each shipment.
