Frost & Sullivan Awards OrderCloud by Four51 The 2016 New Product Innovation Award for B2B eCommerce

Research firm acknowledges OrderCloud for reinventing B2B eCommerce with its cloud-based platform approach, says it's "uniquely positioned for sustained success"

Frost & Sullivan has recognized Four51 as the recipient of the 2016 North American New Product Innovation award based on recent analysis of the business-to-business (B2B) eCommerce platforms market. Four51 has risen to prominence in this market with the launch of OrderCloud™ and its novel cloud-based platform-as-a-service (PaaS). OrderCloud enables businesses to deploy custom eCommerce applications in the cloud, and is proving to be a huge draw for B2B firms as they increasingly move to online and mobile commerce to manage their orders.

Frost & Sullivan presents this award each year to the company that has developed an innovative element in a product by leveraging leading-edge technologies. The award recognizes the value-added features/benefits of the product and the increased return on investment (ROI) it offers customers, which increases customer acquisition and overall market penetration potential.

Leveraging 16 years of experience in the B2B eCommerce space, Four51 rolled out the OrderCloud™ eCommerce platform, and simultaneously launched the OrderCloud™ Development Center, a comprehensive online set of resources, tools and SDK's dedicated to helping developers get up and running quickly with building and deploying custom eCommerce applications on top of the OrderCloud platform.

The latest version of the OrderCloud™ provides more flexibility and empowers organizations to obtain and integrate best-of-breed technologies with its open API console.

"The developers of OrderCloud™ offered users full access to its complex data model and core business functionality through a REST API, setting this platform apart," said Frost & Sullivan Research Analyst, Michael Valenti. "By decoupling the front-end user interface from the back-end data model and business logic, Four51 created the first cloud-based B2B eCommerce platform driven by APIs. OrderCloud is reinventing B2B commerce."

Further, OrderCloud™ has omni-channel capabilities and enables commerce through diverse channels such as mobile devices and desktop computers as well as go-to-market points such as call centers, sales representatives, distribution channels, point of sales, and customer direct. OrderCloud boasts multiple languages and currencies with flexible payment options, facilitates up-selling and cross-selling opportunities, manages product catalogs, and accommodates approval rules.

Four51 developed OrderCloud™ for both less skilled user interface designers and skilled experts, broadening the appeal of OrderCloud™ and Four51's customer base to include businesses, system integrators, and developers.

"Four51 fitted OrderCloud™ with a secure and extendable data model with rapid development tools that lets users create and deploy custom apps for eCommerce faster and more easily," noted Valenti. "Furthermore, Four51 provides training and documentation, and online courses for customer assistance."

Four51 has done a remarkably good job of understanding customer needs in the B2B eCommerce platforms market and developing an innovative product to address those needs. Overall, Four51's OrderCloud™ eCommerce platform is uniquely positioned for sustained success as it addresses the core issues customers care about: customization, comprehensive feature set, and deployment agility.

Australian supermarket chain rolls out AI-powered grocery carts

Grocery shoppers in Australia will soon be able to zip in and out of the store in record time, bypassing the lines for cashiers or self-checkout kiosks altogether. They can just walk in, make their selections, and walk out with their bags in hand.

The secret to this express shopping experience is the “Caper Cart,” an AI (artificial intelligence)-powered smart trolley from San Francisco-based Instacart. In its first deployment in the Asia Pacific (APAC) region, the system is being tested by Coles Supermarkets, a food and beverage retailer with more than 1,800 grocery and liquor stores throughout the country.

How green is your glue?

If you’re looking to make the packaging process more eco-friendly, the obvious place to start is with the box itself. And that’s exactly what Salt Lake City-based Packsize did when it made its initial foray into sustainable packaging back in 2002. That year, the company launched its first product, an innovative on-demand packaging system designed to reduce cardboard waste (and the need for filler material) by creating a right-sized box for each shipment.

Now the company is ready for the next step: greening up the glue.
