enVista to Share Expertise During Educational Sessions at Warehousing Education and Research Council (WERC) Conference

INDIANAPOLIS (May 2, 2016)—enVista, a leading global supply chain consulting and IT services firm, today announces it will help lead two educational sessions during the 2016 WERC Conference, an annual event that brings logistics professionals together to discuss industry trends and best practices, held May 15-18 in Providence, R.I. enVista Senior Director Tim Talarico and enVista Director Geoff Milsom will provide thought leadership alongside enVista clients and industry leaders. Details include:

Leveraging Existing Technology to Achieve Transportation and Warehouse Savings
• Date: May 16 at 3: 30 p.m.
• Speakers:
o Geoff Milsom, director, enVista
o Katie Blanchard, senior manager - transportation, CVS Health
o Matt Arnold, director of transportation and trade compliance, Sephora
o Houston Mason, director - distribution - North America, McCormick & Company
• Description: Instead of immediately looking to implement new software, CVS, Sephora, and McCormick figured out how to leverage existing systems to reduce transportation costs and improve service, resulting in both cost savings and more efficient warehouse operations. Learn about the lower risk and less costly benefits of modifying processes, improving integration with supply chain execution tools (upstream, downstream and with external partners), and updating configurations for better transportation and warehouse productivity.

"We are looking forward to helping attendees understand how to leverage existing technology to avoid the risks and complications involved with tearing out and replacing older systems," said Milsom. "While avoiding new system implementations can be ideal, there are still many change management challenges, communication requirements and other obstacles to overcome in order to create meaningful change and return on investment."
Process Optimization Beyond WMS
• Date: May 17 at 1: 45 p.m.
• Speakers:
o Tim Talarico, senior director, enVista
o Ed Frantz, senior account manager, Lucas Systems
• Description: Do you need to improve picking and other fulfillment processes, but your current WMS is standing in the way? It might be time to look for ways to optimize processes outside of your WMS. This session describes how a growing online retailer re-engineered its picking and sortation/packing processes to improve productivity and accuracy without changing its WMS.

Talarico said, "Many companies think that once a WMS is implemented, they will automatically be performing at peak levels, but that's not necessarily the case. The Process Optimization Beyond WMS session will detail ways to optimize processes outside of the WMS in order to reduce waste and improve efficiencies in the warehouse."

Grocery shoppers in Australia will soon be able to zip in and out of the store in record time, bypassing the lines for cashiers or self-checkout kiosks altogether. They can just walk in, make their selections, and walk out with their bags in hand.

The secret to this express shopping experience is the “Caper Cart,” an AI (artificial intelligence)-powered smart trolley from San Francisco-based Instacart. In its first deployment in the Asia Pacific (APAC) region, the system is being tested by Coles Supermarkets, a food and beverage retailer with more than 1,800 grocery and liquor stores throughout the country.
