Livingston International Names Houston Office as a National Service Center

March 24, 2016

HOUSTON - Livingston International, a leading North American company specializing in customs brokerage and trade compliance, has designated its Houston office as one of four national service centers in the United States. The company opened its new office at 5775 North Sam Houston Parkway West, Houston, consolidating three smaller locations across Houston.

This designation enables Livingston to provide even better 24-hour service to clients by concentrating its release operations, which accelerates the process of clearing goods into the U.S. Livingston clients will also have further access to specialized technical expertise in the Houston office, which specializes in imports across the U.S. Mexico border.

"Livingston's Houston office is an essential part of our ever-expanding customs brokerage and trade compliance capabilities," said Christopher Logan, President of Livingston U.S. "Enhancing this location is an important part of enhancing our entire U.S. brokerage release operations to deliver even better and more consistent service to every client 24/7, and to meet expanding global client needs."

Livingston simplifies international trade and manages risk for businesses by assisting them in navigating the complexities of government agencies, regulations and protocols. The company's other national client service centers are in Buffalo, Chicago, and Detroit.

Australian supermarket chain rolls out AI-powered grocery carts

Grocery shoppers in Australia will soon be able to zip in and out of the store in record time, bypassing the lines for cashiers or self-checkout kiosks altogether. They can just walk in, make their selections, and walk out with their bags in hand.

The secret to this express shopping experience is the “Caper Cart,” an AI (artificial intelligence)-powered smart trolley from San Francisco-based Instacart. In its first deployment in the Asia Pacific (APAC) region, the system is being tested by Coles Supermarkets, a food and beverage retailer with more than 1,800 grocery and liquor stores throughout the country.

How green is your glue?

If you’re looking to make the packaging process more eco-friendly, the obvious place to start is with the box itself. And that’s exactly what Salt Lake City-based Packsize did when it made its initial foray into sustainable packaging back in 2002. That year, the company launched its first product, an innovative on-demand packaging system designed to reduce cardboard waste (and the need for filler material) by creating a right-sized box for each shipment.
