More Than 100 Cat® Lift Trucks Keep The Show Running

CAT® LIFT TRUCKS KICKS OFF ITS 12TH YEAR AS OFFICIAL LIFT TRUCK PROVIDER FOR THE HOUSTON LIVESTOCK SHOW AND RODEO™

HOUSTON (March 2, 2016) - Each year, more than 2 million people and 30,000 animals fill Houston's NRG Park over the course of three weeks to enjoy the world's largest livestock show and rodeo. Cat® Lift Trucks will continue in its partnership with the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo (HLSR) by providing more than 100 lift trucks for the annual event.

This year marks Cat Lift Truck's 12th consecutive year as the Official Lift Truck Provider for the HLSR. In support of this partnership, Cat Lift Trucks and local dealer Adobe Equipment Houston, LLC (Adobe) provide a variety of internal combustion pneumatic tire lift trucks ranging in capacity from 5,000 to 36,000 lbs. to meet the Show's material handling and logistics needs.

"As a Houston-based manufacturer, Cat Lift Trucks is proud to support our hometown's largest livestock show and rodeo and to contribute to the immense benefits it brings to the community," said Kent Eudy, executive vice president of sales and marketing for Cat Lift Trucks. "It is an honor to play such an important role in keeping the Show running."

Cat lift trucks are used to transform the 300-acre NRG Park for Rodeo season beginning in February. The forklifts can be seen moving everything from animal feed, lumber and food supplies to setting the stage for the Show's all-star lineup of music artists scheduled to perform each night.

In honor of the Show's educational commitment, Cat Lift Trucks is continuing its annual scholarship program, awarding a $5,000 scholarship to an exemplary Spring Branch Independent School District high school senior pursuing a higher education. The 2016 scholarship program recipient will be formally awarded on March 11 at HLSR in the Cat Lift Trucks sponsor suite.

The 2016 Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo begins Tuesday, March 1, and runs through Sunday, March 20. Learn more about Cat lift trucks involvement at the Show at www.facebook.com/catlifttrucks or www.cat-lift.com.

Australian supermarket chain rolls out AI-powered grocery carts

Grocery shoppers in Australia will soon be able to zip in and out of the store in record time, bypassing the lines for cashiers or self-checkout kiosks altogether. They can just walk in, make their selections, and walk out with their bags in hand.

The secret to this express shopping experience is the “Caper Cart,” an AI (artificial intelligence)-powered smart trolley from San Francisco-based Instacart. In its first deployment in the Asia Pacific (APAC) region, the system is being tested by Coles Supermarkets, a food and beverage retailer with more than 1,800 grocery and liquor stores throughout the country.

How green is your glue?

If you’re looking to make the packaging process more eco-friendly, the obvious place to start is with the box itself. And that’s exactly what Salt Lake City-based Packsize did when it made its initial foray into sustainable packaging back in 2002. That year, the company launched its first product, an innovative on-demand packaging system designed to reduce cardboard waste (and the need for filler material) by creating a right-sized box for each shipment.

Now the company is ready for the next step: greening up the glue.
