JDA Signs On as WERC Conference Champion Sponsor

Oak Brook, Illinois - January 25, 2016 - JDA—a leading provider of end-to-end, integrated retail and supply chain planning and execution software—has committed to the Champion Sponsor level of the Warehousing Education and Research Council's (WERC) 39th Annual Conference for Logistics Professionals. The Conference will be held in Providence, Rhode Island at the Rhode Island Convention Center on May 15-18, 2016 and includes three days packed with educational sessions. The annual event routinely draws nearly 1,100 senior-level warehousing, logistics and supply chain professionals.

JDA has actively participated in WERC's Annual Conference for a number of years, explains Amanda Dyson, Senior Marketing Manager. "Many of our associates have participated in WERC and its Annual Conference for more than 10 years. We consider the organization and the education it provides to be an important component of our marketing and industry strategy initiatives," she says.
Additionally, continues Dyson, JDA has developed strong, mutually beneficial relationships with many WERC members initially met at the Conference. "The WERC Annual Conference is a fantastic event for attendees and sponsors to network and learn from each other," she says. "We have been able to both learn from and share valuable insights and experiences with WERC members and Conference attendees, specifically about what's trending in the marketplace."

During the WERC Conference sessions, subject matter experts share industry-specific ideas for actionable strategies to improve processes and operations in a variety of topic areas—metrics, outsourcing, people, transportation, reverse logistics, real estate and more—in industries such as retail, healthcare / pharmaceutical and manufacturing. The Conference also includes off-site facility tours, intimate and relaxed networking, and a Solutions Center featuring the latest innovative products and solutions.

JDA's presence in the Solutions Center will be all about facilitating one-on-one interactions, says Dyson. "It's a chance to meet with attendees and listen to what is of most interest to them in terms of improving their supply chain operations," she notes. "Our company has more than 30 years supplying unique solutions to more than 4,000 customers worldwide. We'll be available to discuss how attendees can achieve goals such as optimizing costs, increasing revenue and reducing time to value with our solutions so they can consistently deliver on their customer promises."

JDA is proud to be an active supporter and participant in the WERC Conference, concludes Dyson: "Networking, learning and sharing experiences are ultimately what the WERC Annual Conference is all about. We are looking forward to a very productive and educational experience in Providence!"

Registration can be accessed at www.werc.org/2016. "Early Bird" Conference registration fees are in effect until April 1, 2016, with additional discounts extended to WERC members who are industry practitioners or full-time educators. Non-members of WERC are also welcomed to the event.

Australian supermarket chain rolls out AI-powered grocery carts

Grocery shoppers in Australia will soon be able to zip in and out of the store in record time, bypassing the lines for cashiers or self-checkout kiosks altogether. They can just walk in, make their selections, and walk out with their bags in hand.

The secret to this express shopping experience is the “Caper Cart,” an AI (artificial intelligence)-powered smart trolley from San Francisco-based Instacart. In its first deployment in the Asia Pacific (APAC) region, the system is being tested by Coles Supermarkets, a food and beverage retailer with more than 1,800 grocery and liquor stores throughout the country.
