NorthPoint Development Begins Construction of 654,656 Square-Foot Spec Building at Logistics Park Kansas City

EDGERTON, Kan. (February 8, 2016) — NorthPoint Development has announced the start of construction of Inland Port V, a 654,656 square-foot speculative building at Logistics Park Kansas City (LPKC). LPKC is a 1,500-acre master-planned distribution and warehouse development anchored by BNSF Railway's newest intermodal facility located in Edgerton, Kan., a suburb southwest of Kansas City.

Upon completion of Inland Port V, expected in June 2016, there will be approximately 4.8 million square feet of new buildings at LPKC, supporting total future building capacity of 17 million square feet. "The construction of another speculative building signals more positive growth for our community," said Mayor Donald Roberts. "Continuing to develop projects like Inland Port V, further strengthens LPKC's position as one of the most efficient locations for companies who need access to the supply chain."

Inland Port V will feature 36-foot clear height and consist of 65 total loading docks, capable of expanding to 130, as well as have a parking lot with potential for approximately 500 spaces.

The secret to this express shopping experience is the “Caper Cart,” an AI (artificial intelligence)-powered smart trolley from San Francisco-based Instacart. In its first deployment in the Asia Pacific (APAC) region, the system is being tested by Coles Supermarkets, a food and beverage retailer with more than 1,800 grocery and liquor stores throughout the country.
