Opex ran a fast-moving demonstration of its Perfect Pick goods-to-person robotic picking machine on the ProMat show floor this week in Chicago.
The machine showed its ability to deliver material handling performance with enough speed and precision to fulfill the demands of e-commerce, including customer applications at companies such as BHFO, iHerb, NewEgg, and Petzl, said marketing manager Beth Ann Ferner.
Perfect Pick is powered by dozens of wireless independent iBot shuttles that carry totes to their destinations by following tongue-and-groove tracks in the racking, eliminating the need for elevators, conveyors, or transfers. That simplicity helps make the system reasonably priced and efficient to run, she said.
Central software directs the iBots to follow a long queue of orders and deliver items to an ergonomic platform, where workers can sort the units by following light- and screen-directed picking instructions.
