Lucas Systems Inc.—which is best know for its Jennifer voice systems—is introducing a set of Mobile Work Execution solutions at ProMat this week. The solutions are meant to help companies optimally execute tasks such as receiving, picking and shipping, and returns.
Jennifer Lachenman, vice president of strategy and business alliances, explains it this way: What a warehouse control system or warehouse execution system does for the machines in the warehouse, Lucas Systems' Mobile Work Execution solutions seek to do for the people.
Some examples of what these solutions can do include helping workers manage exceptions in real time, providing feedback to workers on their productivity levels, and allowing supervisors to split or merge assignments that have been given to specific employees.
The solutions include the Lucas Work Execution Server, which allows DCs to modify their picking and other processes without making changes to existing systems; Jennifer Mobile, the company's multimodal mobile application for voice picking and other tasks; and Engage, the Lucas Systems web-based management dashboard.
The company also provided an update on adoption of its Jennifer VoicePlus applications for smartphones. Lucas announced the application at last year's Modex show in Atlanta. A year later, several of Lucas Systems' customers are now rolling out, according John Schriefer, marketing communications manager. The application has been successfully tested in a range of environments, such as direct fulfillment and direct-to-store delivery.
