SDI Group, which provides consulting, engineering, materials handling, and integration services for distribution centers, announced a more formal integration of its worldwide representatives at a press conference at the ProMat 2013 trade show.
SDI Group has 15 offices and eight territories globally.
SDI grew out of a Los Angeles-based business into a worldwide organization by creating a network of independent entrepreneurial business representatives across the world. Five years ago, SDI went public in the United Kingdom. When the economy softened, the company delisted and split into companies based all over the world.
Tuesday's announcement brings that alliance back together. The decision was mainly a response to requests of clients that do distribution projects across the globe, such as apparel retailer Abercrombie & Fitch. This move allows the SDI Group to leverage resources and expertise from all of its companies.
According to Mary Adams, CEO of SDI USA, Tuesday's announcement merely formalizes relationships that have already been in place for years.
