Companies looking to improve their supply chain operations are focusing on strengthening their internal processes rather than external ones, according to a study conducted by CSCMP and the University of Memphis' FedEx Center for Supply Chain Management.
Of the 202 respondents polled in the first-ever study, 79 percent said most actions to improve their supply chain operations were taking place inside the organization. When asked what was the most critical factor needed to execute their improvement strategies, 64 percent said improving the cross-functional participation within their own organizations.
