Self-driving vehicle provider Seegrid Corp. on Monday unveiled a vision guided vehicle with expanded capabilities for automated materials handling for manufacturing, distribution, and e-commerce companies.
In announcements at the IMTS / Hannover Messe trade show in Chicago, Pittsburgh-based Seegrid also released a new data analytics and reporting tool and enhanced functionality of its Seegrid Supervisor fleet management software.
The company's latest self-driving vehicle, called the GT10 Series 6 Plus tow tractor, raises the autonomy level of the firm's self-driving vehicles by using rear-facing sensors to detect obstacles while the vehicle autonomously hitches to carts.
With its ability to load and unload pallets autonomously, the tow tractor removes the need for human assistance to complete tasks, freeing up companies to deploy employees to more value-added roles, Seegrid said.
With its software offerings, Seegrid said its improved Performance Report platform leverages data captured on self-driving vehicles, creating a dashboard view that lets managers access insight into the movement of materials in their facility and the productivity of their entire fleet, the firm said.
Likewise, the firm's fleet management software now manages more tasks, such as the automatic pairing of available vehicles with work tasks, standardization of vehicle behaviors, and auto-building route maps, according to Seegrid.
