NFI launches online shipment visibility tool

Suite of software tools to help customers track and trace inventory, ensure regulatory compliance, make real time adjustments.

Third-party logistics provider (3PL) NFI Industries said today it has released a suite of software tools it says will help its customers track shipments, make adjustments, and ensure order compliance.

Called the Integrated Technology Suite (ITS), the product includes three components intended to improve supply chain visibility: a smart pOréal, global "veritas," and business intelligence. The smart pOréal allows users to improve compliance by tracking regulations for all components of the supply chain and keeping inventory moving, NFI said. The global veritas tool lets users improve visibility by tracking and tracing orders in real time, it said. And the business intelligence component can help improve a company's analytics by letting it examine data at any range, from a granular focus to a big-picture overview, it said.

Cherry Hill, N.J.-based NFI says ITS combines the input from these three sources in a single online hub, making it simple for users to keep track of information about different aspects of their business.

NFI has been expanding in recent months, acquiring the Toronto-based 3PL Dominion Warehousing & Distribution last month to increase its Canadian operations, and in December joining a logistics initiative called the MonarchFx Alliance in a move to increase its volume of e-commerce business.

And although investment has slowed since then, the long-term outlook calls for steady growth over the next four years. According to data from research and consulting firm Interact Analysis, revenues from shipments of industrial robots are forecast to grow nearly 4% per year, on average, between 2024 and 2028 (see Exhibit 1).
