Saucey whisks whiskey to thirsty customers

E-comm distribution firm delivers the booze in under an hour.

If you want to compete in the e-commerce world, you'd better be fast. Customers have come to expect next-day delivery or even same-day delivery in certain regions. That capability can be crucial when it comes to delivering home medical supplies or equipment for last-minute business meetings, but what if you want something really important ... like a six-pack of beer?

If you happen to live in certain parts of California, you're in luck. Under terms of a partnership between e-commerce alcohol delivery company Saucey and retail giant BevMo, BevMo customers in San Francisco, Los Angeles, San Diego, and Sacramento can order beer, wine, spirits, and mixers online and Saucey will deliver the order in under an hour.


Although Saucey is not the only alcohol delivery service in the market, it claims to be a cut above the rest. As for what distinguishes Saucey from its peers, the company says it has developed a network of some 1,500 couriers whom it has trained in the firm's ID verification process and inventory management methods. That enables the workers to handle more orders per hour than unknown handlers outsourced through a "shared economy" smartphone app, Saucey claims.

Air cargo carriers enjoy 24% rise in average spot rates

The global air cargo market’s hot summer of double-digit demand growth continued in August with average spot rates showing their largest year-on-year jump with a 24% increase, according to the latest weekly analysis by Xeneta.

Xeneta cited two reasons to explain the increase. First, Global average air cargo spot rates reached $2.68 per kg in August due to continuing supply and demand imbalance. That came as August's global cargo supply grew at its slowest ratio in 2024 to-date at 2% year-on-year, while global cargo demand continued its double-digit growth, rising +11%.

Congressional gridlock and election outcomes complicate search for labor

Worker shortages remain a persistent challenge for U.S. employers, even as labor force participation for prime-age workers continues to increase, according to an industry report from labor law firm Littler Mendelson P.C.

Toyota picks vendor to control smokestack emissions from its ro-ro ships

Stax Engineering, the venture-backed startup that provides smokestack emissions reduction services for maritime ships, will service all vessels from Toyota Motor North America Inc. visiting the Toyota Berth at the Port of Long Beach, according to a new five-year deal announced today.
