Could "pallet skating" become a new addition to the X Games? Based on a video of Czech artist Tomáš Moravec traveling down the tram tracks of Bratislava, Slovakia, on a tricked-out pallet, the answer may well be yes. The video has gone viral, generating over 218,000 views on YouTube.
To fashion his "Pallet Skate," Moravec cut down a wooden pallet and added four wheels to create a longboard. The wheels are spaced to fit in the Bratislava tram tracks, which are narrower than those in the rest of Europe and the U.S. With just a few pushes, Moravec is able to glide effortlessly through the streets of this historic city, and the humble pallet is transformed from shipping platform to transportation mode.
What's next? Will Moravec try to one-up skating legend Tony Hawk and land a 900 on the pallet skate? Or compete on a pallet half pike? Only time will tell.
