Mark Solomon joined DC VELOCITY as senior editor in August 2008, and was promoted to his current position on January 1, 2015. He has spent more than 30 years in the transportation, logistics and supply chain management fields as a journalist and public relations professional. From 1989 to 1994, he worked in Washington as a reporter for the Journal of Commerce, covering the aviation and trucking industries, the Department of Transportation, Congress and the U.S. Supreme Court. Prior to that, he worked for Traffic World for seven years in a similar role. From 1994 to 2008, Mr. Solomon ran Media-Based Solutions, a public relations firm based in Atlanta. He graduated in 1978 with a B.A. in journalism from The American University in Washington, D.C.

Ozburn-Hessey Logistics has named Scott McWilliams executive chairman of its board of directors, and Bert Irigoyen its chief executive officer, the company said Friday.

Prior to the appointment, McWilliams, a 20-year OHL employee, was the logistics service provider's chief executive officer, a position he had held since 2001. McWilliams served as the company's president from 1996 to 2001. He is a member of DC VELOCITY's editorial advisory board.

Irigoyen, who joined OHL in 2006, has been its president and chief operating officer since 2009. Prior to joining OHL, he worked for Nightingale and Associates, a management consulting firm.

"I am thrilled to become the next CEO of OHL at a time when there is so much momentum in the business," Irigoyen said in a prepared statement.

Cimcorp's new CEO sees growth in grocery and tire segments

Logistics automation systems integrator Cimcorp today named company insider Veli-Matti Hakala as its new CEO, saying he will cultivate growth in both the company and its clientele, specifically in the grocery retail and tire plant logistics sectors.

An eight-year veteran of the Georgia company, Hakala will begin his new role on January 1, when the current CEO, Tero Peltomäki, will retire after a long and noteworthy career, continuing as a member of the board of directors, Cimcorp said.
