  • Lifetime achievement. The American Trucking Associations (ATA) has honored Bob Halladay with the S. Earl Dove Highway Award for a lifetime of dedication to the trucking industry. Halladay served in a number of positions with the ATA during his career, including chairman of its Trucking Association Executives Council. He retired in 1990 as ATA's senior vice president of federation relations and president of Transport Topics Publishing. The Dove Award is the ATA's highest honor.
  • Community minded. The United Way of Metropolitan Nashville (Tenn.) has presented Ozburn-Hessey (OH) Logistics with the annual Iris Circle Award. The award recognizes OH Logistics' 2007 Pace Setter campaign, which encouraged corporate and employee involvement in the community.
  • Green is good. Toyota Industrial Equipment Manufacturing (TIEM), which makes Toyota lift trucks and other industrial equipment, has been inducted as a charter member of Indiana's Environmental Stewardship Program. TIEM is one of 14 companies in Indiana to develop an environmental management system. TIEM has also received the Governor's Award for Environmental Excellence.
  • Indiana dreaming. Indianapolis Colts coach Tony Dungy has recognized Bastian Material Handling, which is based in Indianapolis, for the company's support of D.R.E.A.M. Alive, a nonprofit organization for inner-city youth founded by Colts offensive lineman Tarik Glenn and his wife, Maya.
  • Exel-ent. Exel Transportation Services (ETS) has received the Capture Excellence Award from Datacap Inc., a supplier of document capture and forms-processing software. The award was given to ETS for its use of Datacap's Taskmaster for Invoices software, which saved ETS both time and money.
  • Chemically balanced. The American CHemiätry Council has recognized APL Logistics for safety and environmental responsibility in freight management. The CHemiätry Council has certified APL under its Responsible Care initiative, a global voluntary program to promote safety in the manufacturing, handling, and shipping of chemicals.
  • M-listed. Savi has once again been named to M2M magazine's list of the top 100 companies in the machine-tomachine technology industry. The annual list recognizes the companies making the greatest impact on the machine-tomachine marketplace. Savi's solutions in this field include wireless technology that is used with its networked software platform to improve supply chain efficiency and security. Savi has been on the M2M 100 list every year since the list's creation four years ago.

Cimcorp's new CEO sees growth in grocery and tire segments

Logistics automation systems integrator Cimcorp today named company insider Veli-Matti Hakala as its new CEO, saying he will cultivate growth in both the company and its clientele, specifically in the grocery retail and tire plant logistics sectors.

An eight-year veteran of the Georgia company, Hakala will begin his new role on January 1, when the current CEO, Tero Peltomäki, will retire after a long and noteworthy career, continuing as a member of the board of directors, Cimcorp said.

The Boston-based enterprise software vendor Board has acquired the California company Prevedere, a provider of predictive planning technology, saying the move will integrate internal performance metrics with external economic intelligence.

According to Board, the combined technologies will integrate millions of external data points—ranging from macroeconomic indicators to AI-driven predictive models—to help companies build predictive models for critical planning needs, cutting costs by reducing inventory excess and optimizing logistics in response to global trade dynamics.
