  • Team effort. The College-Industry Council on Material Handling Education (CICMHE) and the Material Handling Industry of America (MHIA) have presented the 2007 Outstanding Material Handling and Logistics Content Award to FKI Logistex and Koroberi. FKI Logistex, a material handling solutions provider, and Koroberi, an integrated marketing firm that represents FKI, teamed up to produce the white paper that garnered the award, RFID for the Real World: Challenges and Opportunities in the Warehouse and Distribution Center Environment. The award is designed to recognize outstanding educational content related to material handling.
  • Taking the lead. DHL has received a PR Platinum Award for the successful launch and execution of its "I'm On It" internal public relations campaign. The award was presented by PR News, an industry publication, to acknowledge DHL's campaign to explain to its employees their roles in providing superior customer service.
  • Georgia on their mind. The American Association of Port Authorities has honored the Georgia Ports Authority (GPA) with the 2007 Information Technology Award. The GPA, which was one of 33 seaports recognized for various projects, programs, and initiatives, earned the award for its real-time container inspection tracking program, which was developed in partnership with U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
  • Going west. Liberty Mutual Insurance has given three safety awards to West Brother's Companies, a group of affiliated companies that provide transportation, logistics, and commercial fleet leasing services in the Southeast. The company's West Logistics and Logistic Leasing divisions were honored with Gold Awards for No Lost Time Claims, while the West Brother's Transportation Services group was given a Silver Award for Exceptional Safety Performance.

Report: 65% of consumers made holiday returns this year

Supply chains continue to deal with a growing volume of returns following the holiday peak season, and 2024 was no exception. Recent survey data from product information management technology company Akeneo showed that 65% of shoppers made holiday returns this year, with most reporting that their experience played a large role in their reason for doing so.

The survey—which included information from more than 1,000 U.S. consumers gathered in January—provides insight into the main reasons consumers return products, generational differences in return and online shopping behaviors, and the steadily growing influence that sustainability has on consumers.

Global third-party logistics service provider (3PL) CJ Logistics experienced this first-hand recently, embarking on a WMS selection process that would both upgrade performance and enhance security for its U.S. business network.

The company was operating on three different platforms across more than 35 warehouse facilities and wanted to pare that down to help standardize operations, optimize costs, and make it easier to scale the business, according to CIO Sean Moore.
