  • Cap Gemini Ernst & Young U.S. LLC (CGE&Y), one of the world's largest management and IT consultancies, has named Paul Matthews director of supply chain for North America. Based in Newton, Mass., Matthews will be responsible for managing the company's supply chain practice in the United States, Mexico and Canada. With more than 2,000 global practitioners, CGE&Y's supply chain practice provides services ranging from supply chain strategy and architecture development, and business and technology integration to full-service process and technology outsourcing.
  • Vexure Inc., the parent of TRT Carriers Inc., has appointed Joe Dorety to the position of general manager of TRT Carriers. In his new role, he will be responsible for the company's truck/rail/truck operating unit. Dorety succeeds Mike Liantonio, who was recently promoted to vice president of operations.
  • V3 Systems, which provides supply chain execution software for global customers, has appointed Andrew Kilbourne executive vice president of engineering. His position was created to address growing customer interest in the company's new execution capability for complex enterprise-wide supply chain networks.
  • John Cullen and Jim McDonald have been appointed to senior management positions at Versa, a subsidiary of the Intelligrated corporate family. Cullen, who joined Intelligrated last year as the senior marketing executive for Intelligrated and Versa, has assumed the role of president of Versa LLC. He has more than 25 years of business experience in general management and marketing positions in consumer packaged-goods companies, including General Foods, Whitbread/Heineken, Unilever, Elizabeth Arden and The Andrew Jergens Co.

    McDonald has joined Versa as senior vice president of sales. He has more than 20 years of experience in the material handling industry, including the direct selling of capital equipment, sales management and operations management. Over the past 14 years, he has held multiple managerial positions within Alvey Systems Inc., an FKI Logistex member company.
  • Jerry Vaughn has joined Intelligrated as a system sales manager. Vaughn has more than 34 years of experience in the material handling systems marketplace. His background includes positions in engineering and project implementation, as well as systems design and account management for a variety of Fortune 500 companies.

Following a year in which global logistics networks were buffeted by labor strikes, natural disasters, regional political violence, and economic turbulence, the supply chain visibility provider Project44 has compiled the impact of each of those events in a new study.

The “2024 Year in Review” report lists the various transportation delays, freight volume restrictions, and infrastructure repair costs of a long string of events. Those disruptions include labor strikes at Canadian ports and postal sites, the U.S. East and Gulf coast port strike; hurricanes Helene, Francine, and Milton; the Francis Scott key Bridge collapse in Baltimore Harbor; the CrowdStrike cyber attack; and Red Sea missile attacks on passing cargo ships.

Shippeo gains $30 million backing for its transportation visibility platform

The French transportation visibility provider Shippeo today said it has raised $30 million in financial backing, saying the money will support its accelerated expansion across North America and APAC, while driving enhancements to its “Real-Time Transportation Visibility Platform” product.

The funding round was led by Woven Capital, Toyota’s growth fund, with participation from existing investors: Battery Ventures, Partech, NGP Capital, Bpifrance Digital Venture, LFX Venture Partners, Shift4Good and Yamaha Motor Ventures.
