GT Nexus Inc., a provider of global logistics technology, and RiverOne Inc., a provider of supply chain management software and services for manufacturers, have announced a strategic alliance. Company officials say the collaboration will produce a new synchronized and integrated supply chain planning, execution and logistics management system that unifies supply chain management and logistics management processes that typically are silo-based. "This alliance addresses the 'blind spot' that many companies face with order fulfillment and inventory in transit, and then linking these back to upstream supply chain activity," notes Greg Johnsen, vice president of marketing and strategic alliances for GT Nexus. "GT Nexus's global logistics applications and infrastructure complement the supply chain process offerings of RiverOne, creating a true end-to-end supply chain management platform."

Each of those factors could lead to significant shipping delays, production slowdowns, and increased costs, Averitt said.
