  • Good deal(ers). Six dealerships were honored at this year's Nissan Forklift National Aftermarket Conference as Gold Winners in Nissan's Service Excellence Program. The winners are New England Industrial Truck, Equipment Inc., Forklifts Inc., Liftec Inc., M&L Industries Inc., and Michigan Industrial Equipment Corp. The award is given for excellence in product and service management, training, marketing, and finance and administration.
  • Accuracy counts. SYSCO Corp. has presented Ozburn-Hessey Logistics (OHL) with its 3PL Warehouse of the Year Award for 2003. The award recognizes OHL's Fond du Lac, Wis., facility, which maintained an order accuracy rate of 99.94 percent in 2003, the highest of any SYSCO warehouse facility.
  • Top performer. Schneider National Inc., which is a provider of transportation, logistics and related services as well as North America's largest truckload carrier, has earned an Outstanding Performance in 2003 Award from Figi's Inc., a mail-order gifts service. Schneider National was one of three vendors selected to receive the award, which is based on on-time performance, safety and customer satisfaction. In 2003, Schneider National provided Figi's Inc. with truckload, expedited and intermodal services primarily supporting the mail-order goods company during the busy holiday season.
  • Building excellence. Lowe's Companies, the country's second largest home improvement retailer, presented Concord, N.C.-based Cardinal Logistics Management Inc. with its Gold Partner Award at the annual Lowe's Carrier Conference. Cardinal Logistics Management received the award based on superior service, timely and accurate invoicing, problem-solving abilities and on-time deliveries. Cardinal achieved an ontime rate of 99.97 in 2003, the highest on-time percentage of any carrier used by Lowe's. This represents the third consecutive year Cardinal has received this award.
  • Select group. The Warehousing Education and Research Council (WERC) has presented Bruce Abels, president and COO of Saddle Creek Corp., with its prestigious lifetime membership award. Granted only four times in the group's history, the award is given to a long-time member who has demonstrated loyalty, commitment and leadership to the organization. A founding member, Abels was the first and only multiyear president of WERC.

Eight in 10 retail associates are concerned about the lack of technology deployed to spot safety threats or criminal activity on the job, according to a report from Zebra Technologies Corp.

That challenge is one of the reasons that fewer shoppers overall are satisfied with their shopping experiences lately, Lincolnshire, Illinois-based Zebra said in its “17th Annual Global Shopper Study.”th Annual Global Shopper Study.” While 85% of shoppers last year were satisfied with both the in-store and online experiences, only 81% in 2024 are satisfied with the in-store experience and just 79% with online shopping.

Cimcorp's new CEO sees growth in grocery and tire segments

Logistics automation systems integrator Cimcorp today named company insider Veli-Matti Hakala as its new CEO, saying he will cultivate growth in both the company and its clientele, specifically in the grocery retail and tire plant logistics sectors.

An eight-year veteran of the Georgia company, Hakala will begin his new role on January 1, when the current CEO, Tero Peltomäki, will retire after a long and noteworthy career, continuing as a member of the board of directors, Cimcorp said.

Consumers still want fast, free shipping if they can get it—without any delays or disruptions to their holiday deliveries.
